Re: I cant wait for next patch
That being said it’s so easy to avoid the ground now and people don’t really have to worry about it. Hopefully the next patch restores some balance. It’s mma and I want to punish people who don’t know the ground game as well as I do at a ranked level.Comment

Re: I cant wait for next patch
Like you read my mind. I think this boils down to a grappler feeling left out in the cold (me included). I feel his pain on that front. I didn’t play much ranked in ufc 2 but that was more because I had more fun with matchups on quick match and friends. I was able to go 125-5 on ranked with grappling as my primary and that’s not to say I was great. It was more a result of the more open matchmaking and people unwillingness to learn the ins and outs of the ground.

The good news is GPD has stated that the focus is going to be on grappling next patch so there is some good stuff coming.Comment

Re: I cant wait for next patch
I can completely understand that. My take is they installed a completely new striking system. There were going to bugs. There were going to be exploits. Given that it was the main feature, I expected that the focus was going to be on that system when it came to the first few patches.

Any way changes/improvements are coming to grappling. At the most, you have 10 more days before you guys get what you want.Comment

Re: I cant wait for next patch
EA UFC 1 was probably the global improvement approach as you suggest, maybe slight striking focus with all the cage strikes etc.
EA UFC 2 was grappling focused, EA UFC 3 was striking focused.
If this is the case then maybe EA UFC 5 (if there is one) could become focused on MMA as a whole.
We would have both striking and grapppling's foundation set by then and the focus can become integrating striking and grappling to become one seamless game.
Right it feels like there are 2 (3 if you include subs as you should) different games within EA UFC 3.
Seamless integration is the key word here.
There was never a "global improvement approach" though. The primary focus of UFC 2 was the new grappling system. I'd argue that 70-80% of the dev time in UFC 2 was used towards the grappling system. Now more time has likely been used towards the striking system in UFC 3 but its not a significant amount more. Even the first few patches of UFC 2 were grappling focused (with the exception of the strike intercept feature).

Re: I cant wait for next patch
I think EA UFC 4 will have a grappling focus if we go on past trends. Things like transition based subs (TBS) are in high demand.

Does that mean the patch is coming next Tuesday or Thursday. It could be this week, but next week feels more likely.
It means its coming in the next 10 days. You know im not gonna confirm the date.
I think UFC 4 will be more of a mix.Comment

Re: I cant wait for next patch
As for UFC 4, as long as transition based subs/TDs make it in- I wouldn't mind it focusing on MMA as a whole.
In fact, in that case, I would prefer it.Comment

Re: I cant wait for next patch
I REALLY hope you can punish overaggressive strikers with take downs better in the next patch. That would definitely help with balance.

Re: I cant wait for next patch
I wonder what new fighters will be in this patch :P What you guys want to see?
In my opinion the most important are:
- Curtis Blaydes
- David Branch
- Tyson Pedro or Marcin Tybura, Zabit.
There should be a new models:
- Jeremy Stephens .. come on
- Robert Whittaker .. he looks terribleComment

I remember in UFC 1 people could chase you down just by striking because the game would close distance for them.Comment
