Re: Using Dominick Cruz in ranked?
I have been playing around with Cruz offline thought about trying him out in ranked so I was wondering if anyone had had much success using him and his style in ranked.

Yes I’ve had lots of success using Dom Cruz. Check out MMAFRoO YT channel and search for his Lowkick Combos and Setup videos. I feel I displayed a decent Cruz performance against his Dillashaw

Dominick is good but he tends to get countered in the meta in the top 30. Without a proper jab he lacks a critical skill, I still use him sometimes for fun. He actually plays much better as a pressure fighter than an evasive one.Comment

Re: Using Dominick Cruz in ranked?
When there aren't as many urgent things to be addressed, I'll do my best to push for a buff to the evasion windows of Cruz's special steps. It would also be ideal to assign his special jab and cross to another input, so that he can use normal advancing jabs and straights.Comment

No no no please just leave Dom Cruz alone. He’s perfect the way he is now I don’t need some GC telling the devs anything just because other gamers can’t use Dom Cruz properly

- Buff to the evasion frames of his lunge
- And giving him regular punches to allow him to combo better?
Why would you against these buffs?Comment

Re: Using Dominick Cruz in ranked?
The evasion frames on his outside step are really really bad.Comment

Re: Using Dominick Cruz in ranked?
Yeah, I play in a league and picked Cruz as my first fighter pick before playing the game.. I love him but the inconsistency of his jab/straight with sometimes being normal, other signature and the hard time you have trying to block break after rocking someone since the jab/straight would be signature and stop your movement made him kinda ****ty.. You also have to input the 1-2 really fast to combo the signatur w, and nothing else combos off them which I should annoyingComment

Re: Using Dominick Cruz in ranked?
they just need to fix the weird delay on his jab and straight, it's hard as hell to combo anything off his jab, shouldn't be that hard to throw a simple 1-2.
it does feel like him when you use the movement and strike going sideways but yeah the jab and straight need some tweaking. he should be one of the most fun dudes to play as.Last edited by SKITZADACTYL; 05-29-2018, 10:59 AM.Comment

Re: Using Dominick Cruz in ranked?
I agree with susp3nsa. It should take time and practice to play a good Cruz. I do agree maybe more evasion frames on the signature movement but leave the jab straight inputs alone.
If you can't be succesful with him it's because you only close distance with jabs and straights.
To answer the question of the OP, yes I do play Cruz successfully, at 1600+ points regularly.
My advice is close distance other ways. Feint the first strike of a combo and the rest comes out fast. Example: lead body hook feint into a straight - lead hook.
Timing the signature jab cross when you think your opponent is going to throw a jab. Making their jab miss due to the evasion of the signature jab.
Don't be scared to use headmovement just to help wear the opponent down, and I don't mean the circle spinning cheese.Comment

Re: Using Dominick Cruz in ranked?
The fact that he is different and hard to use represents him irl. He's a puzzle and a mystery. If he is given regular punches people will just play with him as if he's a regular fighter. Which is pretty lame. All his punches irl are wide and looping punches.
Also your more of a muay thai striker it's very hard for you to use cruz.
you've got to use him differently
This is a video i made on how to fight with him. Hope this helps.Comment
