Re: rhythm manipulation techniques in ufc 3
Well combos have a set speed so unless you do them as individual strikes none of them really. Most people mix up the order of combos, so like double hook upper cut to double upper cut double hook. -
Re: rhythm manipulation techniques in ufc 3
The rythm manipulation in the game is mostly about what you do with different combos. It can work by poke - intercept, or poke - slip counter.
The stuff you have to worry about within each combo is whether or not you expect an exchange. If you do, then throwing a kick in th e combo is usually a bad thing.Comment

The feint jab is popular for setting up mixed rhythms. It's also useful against people who back up a lotComment

Re: rhythm manipulation techniques in ufc 3
Sorry. What I meant with different combos was throwing one combo (or single strike) after the other.
You can hit the opponent's block, with some safe attack, and estimate when he will strike back (counting on his hesitation, for the fear of the possibility that you'll continue your combo). Then you can use this estimation to intercept or slip counter him. Like this:
<iframe src='//gifs.com/embed/ea-ufc-3-aldo-vs-ortega-poking-counter-1-YvD7rO' frameborder='0' scrolling='no' width='640px' height='360px' style='-webkit-backface-visibility: hidden;-webkit-transform: scale(1);' ></iframe>
Here I use a "poke on hit", a strike that is made safe by landing low. Then, counting on the estimation that he'll want to fire back, with a straight punch right away, I use the slip counter as soon as I recover from the kick:
<iframe src='//gifs.com/embed/ea-ufc-3-barboza-vs-dos-anjos-poking-counter-2-yrWw2g' frameborder='0' scrolling='no' width='640px' height='360px' style='-webkit-backface-visibility: hidden;-webkit-transform: scale(1);' ></iframe>
This tactic ^ is more safely performed with leg kicks, because they concede less frame advantage and give you enough time to slip anything, even a jab.Comment
