Remove almost all permanent stamina drain for the retreating stiff arm.
Keep the (MASSIVE) drain you receive when you hit the fence and add extra damage when being leg kicked. That is all you need. This feature will never be used by high level players if it removes even 1 percentage point of permanent stamina each time regardless of time used. The trade off is not enough.Tags: None -

Tbh I’d love it if you made a topic after each patch with your thoughts on the changes. I know you lab a lot and you usually have pretty good insight.Last edited by Phillyboi207; 05-31-2018, 04:05 PM. -

Haven't noticed a difference with the 1 2b though. Shame.Comment

As long as a good player has the reaction time down to land leg kicks and can properly back them up to the fence, this move cannot be spammed without regard.Comment

Re: Remove almost all permanent stamina drain for the retreating stiff arm.
Is there any realism reason why it drains your stamina so much when you hit the fence? I guess it makes sense for game balance, but I can't think of a single reason why that should realistically happen?Comment

Re: Remove almost all permanent stamina drain for the retreating stiff arm.
Both hyper and hypo aggressiveness were powerful last patch at the extremes. Block breakdown was the main culprit as going forward conferred the "runner" a speed and damage advantage, but pinning someone on the cage with a high powered boxer could crush your block if you didn't guess the right way to move your head. I don't know how the new patch will effect the meta yet until I get a real good chance to sit down with it, but one thing I have known from the beginning is this retreating option was always criminally underpowered.

I'm down for anything that makes the retreat more viable and movement more realistic.Comment

Re: Remove almost all permanent stamina drain for the retreating stiff arm.
Haven't gotten any good matches in but one thing that is noticeably different is the lead body hook that people like to use. 1 2 3b has been properly nerfed. Really have to be in a good range for that now.
Haven't noticed a difference with the 1 2b though. Shame.
That's probably because all punches after the second one in a forward moving combo were nerfed in range and speed.Comment

Purely for balance reasons.Comment

I don't like mechanics like that. Most mechanics you can at least find one reason why it could be considered realistic. This one has stood out to me since its been in the game though.Comment

It really should only be used under high aggression when you need to regain space, like if you are being tagged hard and close to being rocked.Comment

I really hope we can get a stumble animation instead
If you retreat or back lunge into the cage you should stumble and be at a massive grapple disadvantage and be unable to strike for a second or two.Comment

Re: Remove almost all permanent stamina drain for the retreating stiff arm.
Again.....talk to your high level players. If you can convince them, I'm sure that further changes will be strongly considered. I just know that when the idea of the retreat was first proposed, the reaction was that it would encourage more running and had to be balanced with stamina taxes. It was immediately agreed by all parties that the tax was too severe by everyone and where we are at is the current compromise.
I'm down for anything that makes the retreat more viable and movement more realistic.Comment
