in my opinion we have to have the ability to chain side steps(flicking L3) to punches and takedowns.
whittaker basically made a carrer of standing just outside your range, and explode in with a punch and go right back out
it will be great for grapplers too: draw a kick when outside of kick range, and in the recovery side step in and takedown the guy.
it will also be good to counter with side steps: step to the outside of a jab and throw a hook(right now its possible but really slow and unreliable)
this way we can have a brand new fight style of in and out quickly, something i really enjoyed in ufc 2 that cant be used effectively now that the side steps doesnt chain with strikes or takedowns.
please add this devs to make the game a lot better and add veriaty to our play style

I made a highlight video on sidesteps and backsteps counters back in april. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFjQwCYbiao It was so useful before the other patch but like you mentioned, it's so slow and unreliable now. Hope this gets a fix.

sorry but outside fighting is op to crying "top players" so we have to fight like ******s fighting over the last cookie on a serious note the last patch just made it easier to get up and pressure you into oblivion

Well i play mostly offline and i really feel this feature missing, cause when you fight ai they give you space to work and it bugs me that i slide in distance and out of it. I wanna feint, draw a reaction, explode in and get out and not slide in and out. It will really elevate this game in my opinion
