I have 0 clue why they’d take the circling mechanic out. It worked very well in UFC 2 imo especially when they jacked up the vulnerability for getting hit on the side you’re moving to. Lunging left/ right feels useless now

Might get hate for this, but its the result of a few gamechangers lobbying to have the game better suit what they wanna see. Just watch some of their streams and see how they fight. Aggression and Volume matter more because thats how they want it.
      Lineup:
      PG) Gary Payton
      SG) '95-'96 Michael Jordan
      SF) Sapphire Scottie Pippen
      PF) '95-'96 Dennis Rodman
      C) Hakeem Olajuwon

I can appreciate the good things, such as that beautiful ankle pick animation and takedown mechanic, but at the end of the day that, the push, and even the retreat are just paper over the cracks. They're nice features but when the fundamentals are totally not there...

Tell that to Alex Caceres. I think that man threw a total of 159 strikes out of 82 landing, and by the third round you would have thought Bravo won by how gassed Caceres was. I think the devs need to watch at least five fights ( i know it's time-consuming) from each fighter they add to the game. Look at what round the fighter get's gassed to how many strikes are thrown and from there somehow base each fighter's stamina off that.

I threw 152 strikes with Dillashaw just now, landing 50. I lost a considerable amount of stamina - it was a damn high output. A huge part of the problem is that totally unrealistic recovery between rounds, and if the fight had went past the first, I'd be all good to go again, and I'd be good to go for Round 3 as well, after which the Recovery Stamina is done. Tweak that (by tweak I mean significantly reduce) and you'll see improvements right away and people who didn't pace themselves will find themselves in no man's land as early as the third.

RT the recovery is the issue in my opinion too. Maybe give the R2 to R3 recovery to the R1 to R2 and then cut the R2 to R3 recovery in half (hopefully that made sense)

The trouble is that this isn’t something that’s uniform for everyone

You're right. In fact, i remember before the game even came out, the devs were gloating about this advanced stamina recovery system between rounds.

Ummm where? It was one of the highlights of that huge initial blog on striking. Just goes to show you how poorly ideas are executed at times.
