Just wanna add, if someone whiffs a rear leg kick (possibly lead aswell, I know with rear) if you shoot right after the whiff its an undeniable TD to back side, as if you interrupted a spin kick

That's one of the tackle TDs I referred to, with the forward moving leg kick. Rear definitely works better.

Has anyone ever stuffed a kick catch takedown?

I swear I did the other day.
I had some wrestler AI catch my kick, and I saw the TD so I instinctively sprawled not expecting anything and it stuffed it.

It played an animation I'd never seen before that looked kinda like a stuff/escape and we returned to striking.

But I've never heard of it being a feature,
And it sounds counterintuitive to kick catch TDs.

So I'm thinking it was a visual glitch maybe?
I don't think I saved the video because I'm an idiot, but ill upload/update if I did.

But yeah? Has anyone else ever either stuffed a kick catch TD, or had a kick catch TD bug out and keep you both on the feet??

Yeah, I think you can do a R2 + Down during a TD after a catch and thus you do sort of a backwards roll to defend it. It rarely happens in my experience, it's probably happened like twice, most people strike when a kick is caught.

Can confirm, Ive done it. With conor vs a Khabib, have a Record That of it and everything because I was thinking "you gotta be kidding me?!"

You do the Chael Sonnen roll away from them, actually looks kinda cool, but I dont think this should be a feature. That being said, Ive never had it done to me, I just know its a thing cos I did it one time

The guy had been shooting TDs constantly, I threw a kick and was doing the pre-deny I know people do when fighting me (rare im in the oppoisite situation lol), he caught the kick, as I was pre-denying, Conor rolled out of it. Felt his heart break, and I was crying bullsh-t for him lol

You can definitely do it. There are two animations for it. The key is the denial has to be lightening fast. I’m going for the takedown everytime when I catch a kick and have had players adapt and stop it.

You can deny the Kick Catch TDs in a similar way as to how you would hit the Takedown Counters, holding R2 And Down. Be warned it leaves you vulnerable to get punched though.

Today I learned if somebody misses a jab hook while coming forward you can hit the Undeniable TD off of that as well. The more you know.

HUGE INFO: With the addition of the lunges , if you successfully lunge to the side, evade a forward moving strike and go for a Takedown, you will hit the tackle takedown animation.

I.E. If somebody comes forward with a 1-2 and you successfully evade the 2 and go for a Takedown right after, it's an AUTO TD akin to the Takedown you hit when somebody is hitting a spin kick!

I'm on campus now, but when I get back home I will do my best to replicate what I mean on video.

How I found about this: I was fighting the Frankie Edgar AI on Legendary, and he evaded my straight Lead hook rear hook and almost immediately after hit a takedown akin to the Takedown animation that is done when you time it on somebody throwing a spin kick.


I was flabbergasted and couldn't believe I didn't think about that sooner. I started trying it and it took about 20 minutes for me to get a few. It's tough though because you specifically need the side angle that turns straight damage into hook damage, and the responsiveness on the takedown after a successful evasive lunge sometimes acts up if it's not that angle, which I think is stupid.

I shoot a a lot of double legs and only seen it happen a couple times, however going for the Thai clinch often results in a major sway left or right depending on which side I’m on
