Re: Official Slider Thread
Yes. Any higher with the Player subs, I can sub the CPU easily using simple subs. Any higher with the cpu subs and I get subbed all the time. Its a work in progress though but it was great the last card I played.
I'm simple subs only now. I hate the mini game. I hate how it looks. I hate that the Cpu constantly seemed to get out of the sub on the last gate. I hate that it blocks the animations.
One thing to keep in mind: I play with no hud
Stamina is super important when it comes to subs so these settings give me a decent chance at defending subs and it calms me down when grappling because im unsure if my guy is going to gas on the ground.
I've been HUD off for a while now too. It's definitely the best way to play offline in particular, and as you point out, it definitely helps with making the ground game more tense.
I'm currently using:
AI Transition: +4-6
AI Subs: +1 (this makes the AI more competent in the mini-game and harder to finish, makes higher end BJJ guys a death sentence if you don't perfectly manage your stamina)
Pro AI, ACC Clock and Regular subs.
Pretty basic, but I'm pretty happy with the balance. Although I'm considering playing with Damage. The Pro AI can be HARD to finish or even cleanly counter so I'm wondering if increasing the risk reward will help.
Some praise I have for the latest AI tuning is that Real Time Clock is actually MUCH more viable now and the AI handles it far better.
Sadly I've grown accustomed to ACC but I'm glad RTC is improving.Comment

The sub speed max also mean you don't have to mash x for 10 long seconds, but both players only have to mash for around 3? ish?...
I have yet to try this configuration out on real players. I wanna get a group of friends together and see if it works better for entry level players.
I'm also thinking about removing all the HUDs, but I wonder if that will make it more confusing for a new player.Comment

Re: Official Slider Thread
But it has unintended and unrealistic side effects sadly, from jabs causing flush KOs to your block being decimated from a single strike to the AI not defending enough.
Personally, I do contextual sliders.
If I'm fighting Ngannou or Lewis I'll go +5 damage and +2 stamina drain so they'll kill you early or die trying. Depending on who I'm using I'll do default or +1 dam/stam.
But if I'm fighting Werdum, I keep damage and stamina at default. Essentially adjust based on who you're fighting.
But that's just me and I don't mind the default damage, it's not perfect but it's serviceable.
Power punchers don't feel as powerful as they probably should though (Hendo, Rumble, Ngannou) and I'd love to see the ability to throw any strike as a power strike on top of the current strikes.Comment

Re: Official Slider Thread
AI/Player Stam +2
AI trans + 3
AI sub speed + 1
Main new addition there is the stamina buff, that's to stop guys like TJ and Cruz's AIs gassing out by round 3 or 4 in title fights.
Some other broad sets you could try are:
Heavyweight:
AI/Player Dam + 3
AI/Player stam - 2
AI trans + 3
AI sub + 1
LHW:
Same, but make Dam + 1 and Stam -1
MW:
Same but make Dam + 1 and stam default.
Are there any specific slider sets you're interested in or are looking for?
To put it another way what don't you like about either the AI or the balancing?
For me, I hate the AIs sub-par grappling ability and inability to realize when it's TDs aren't working, so I buff AI transition speed from +3 to +10 depending on who I am fighting.
This allows the AI to take me down, hit transitions I'd otherwise deny and it's keeping my denials sharp as you have to be quuuuick to hit them.Comment

Re: Official Slider Thread
Depends on how I'm playing.
As of the last few days I've been playing Ranked with No HUD, and this is part of my success because of playing like this. I respect all strikes and try to keep my defense as impeccable as I can. You can't even pressure too much even if you have the AI hurt, you get too overzealous and you will get Rocked and/or Koed!

Re: Official Slider Thread
I still find the CPU gasses itself out too fast on Pro, so I've been increasing player stamina +2 and leaving CPU's at default. Seems to help my stamina stay roughly around the CPU's.
Been experimenting with turning player stamina recovery off, as well. Now that can get challenging, especially in a five-round fight.Comment
