I agree 100% with warmma. Dudes overall game is sick. I think he cuts throw Holloway quite easily. I think Aldo lost in the second fight because he got tired and didn’t kick his legs
Max barely gets hit as well. He opp sig strike % is only 35%, Zabit’s is 31% against far inferior competition. Aldo is just that good. And Aldo did throw kicks he had Holloway limpin some. Holloway turned up the pressure to take away the space to throw them.

Overall Zabit looks pretty good so far. I cant wait to see him face a skilled pressure fighter who he cant easily out grapple.

Zabit is just right. Maybe needs a little buff after ufc 228

No buff, he was a -1100 favorite for that fight, and aside from doing the spladle to Suluev Stretch, nothing he did was unexpected nor warrants a buff over an overmatched opponent. Maybe a Kneebar now.

Who would that be? Only Edgar is pressure and possibly superior grappling. They are teammates. Nobody else fits that bill at this weight.

I think it has to be that plus power. That is why Stephens and Aldo worries me for him. Outside of that o think he can beat everyone in the division. I actually think he might make max look bad. I think absolutely lights up Ortega. Swanson would be very entertaining but Z would be too much. Lamas could be interesting that should be his next fight.

Moicano, Oretega,Mendes possibly. I think Holloway is an interesting match up. If Zabit can force grappling exchanges who knows. But Holloway would light him up on the feet.

Aldo all around is a very bad match up for Zabit. I dont think there’s anywhere he stands a chance. Wont be able to pressure Aldo, cant out strike him from range, wont be able to take/hold him down either.

I agree with just about all of that. I disagree about the boxing exchanges with Holloway. But I think even if Holloway is better there are other factors Holloway’s grappling defense, him not having a reach advantage in striking exchanges, Zabit kicking and Zabit ground...Holloway’s health is also a huge question mark.

Regarding Aldo it is probably the most dangerous matchup for Zabit, however, by the time they matchup if ever we don’t know what Aldo we will have

Well yeah this is assuming everyone at their peaks/healtht

Holloway’s reach isnt really a problem because of how well he closes distance

He stifled Aldo and Pettis to limit their kicks.

That’s where the grappling comes into play vs Zabit. We know he has a tendency to get pushed back. We know Holloway has relentless pressure and cage control. He’d be mixing up body strikes all day while Zabit is on the fence.

I hope Mendes accepts the fight because he’s the perfect test. Zabit’s chin will be tested as will his grappling

So I guess you think he will pull out one of those freak submissions out of nowhere. Zabit stop talk to jump on his neck and I just don’t see Ortega taking him down. In fairness Ortega is one of those guys that is constantly improving and who I think has a high fight IQ so it would be interesting

I think we just disagree on Max’s ability. Also I am not certain but I think Zabit purposefully puts his back to the cage because it’s a only a short circle to a side as you are coming fed and you are against the cage. Given his skill level he absolutely does not need to fight there unless he is indifferent or wants to.

Just because he’s so good at it doesn’t mean it’s a ‘freak submission’ it’s no different, as a skill, to a fighter having one punch KO power.

Very interesting fight I agree, would love to see it and I’m guessing we will when Ortega is champ and Max moves up to 155.

It’s just a bad habit it looks like. He retreats in a straight line. Probably because it works to avoid being hit and he’s confidence in his grappling that close. It’ll get him in trouble against someone he cant our grapple or who picks their shots well when he’s against the fence.

If you dont believe in Max then what do you think of Aldo? Beating Aldo twice is no small feat.

It’s not that I don’t believe in Max he is great. I think in Aldo 1 Jose didn’t use his leg attacks and got into a machismo boxing match. I think the loss to Connor is in his head that way. The second fight I think the gas tank failed him on a short notice fight. Also underestimated Holloway’s chin both times. Look at some of the shots Aldo landed in both those fights it would have taken out 95% of fighters.

However, when you rely on a granite chin and stalk guys eventually that will catch up to you (ie Chuck, JDS, Bowles,)

Zabit's model looks like a CAF.. Totally off.
Maybe C. Oliveira body type could be more appropriate.
