Why? The doctor didnt stop it. Duke Roufus did.

Conor pressured non stop when he had the chance especially round 3. He wasnt able to land consistently not just because of the TD. Khabib showed decent footwork, angling, and made sure to keep his right hand up to deflect the left.

Conor hasnt improved his striking arsenal since he last fought. It was all teeps, straights and rear uppercuts. He threw a nice stance switch lead hook but that’s it.

But Conor is a mad man and got way better after losing to Nate so maybe this will be a wake up call for Conor.

Re: Connor vs Khabib the update after

Man, I have no idea what Conor's gameplan was for this fight. Spam the left hand again? I thought we learned from the Nate fight that isn't a good suggestion. Really glad to see he improved his cardio back to featherweight level though.

There were several strategies he could've easily exploited that became evident as the fight went on. If he was only patient and didn't elect to throw FLYING KNEES against the best wrestler in the game. Whaaaaaat theeeee fuuuuuuuck? Even Kavanaugh suggested some of these things.

Like how Conor could draw out the round for significant portions by keeping Khabib behind the black lines. Not chasing him recklessly and just allowing him to come to him. Unwise shot selection like knees and uppercuts instead of step back straight counters. It seriously looked like Conor was just spamming his Greatest Hits TM combos with no science or set up. The teeps and body straights were fast and effective. Why not use more of those?

WHY did he grab Khabib's leg in the initial shot of the fight when he was clearly far enough away to push off? He maintained clinch range and stayed in the clinch far longer than he needed to at almost every point possible. His energy conservation was great in the beginning, but he needed to explode out later on like in the third round (which he won), where Khabib stalled on the fence in the same half-hearted position for half the round, allowing him to recover all the stamina he lost previously. This led to the energy burst in round four that preceded the finish.

Just a really poor performance strategy-wise all around. It was clear Conor had all the tools to win, but squandered his own potential with bad decision making from a usually high IQ fighter.

Khabib however showed absolutely nothing new. We know he has a good block and decent power. His footwork was not improved in any significant capacity. It was more Conor failing to execute his strengths and allowing Khabib to utilize his own.

He just fought more patient against Nate the 2nd time tbh and he still got tired. I think Conor's style is just what tires him and then obviously seen from tonight, grappling can wear you down too. The thing is there's lvl's too this stuff so even if Conor say tries to get better and trains his wrestling like a mad man, he's still not gonna be on Khabib's lvl. That's a lifetime of training. And I assure you Conor trained like hell on his wrestling for this fight. But on a side note, Conor better start having some respect for the punchers chance on the feet. Khabib straight dropped him in the 2nd.

That's semantics. The fight was stopped because of an injury. It's an anti-climatic way to end a fight

Conor had already slowed down by round three. He landed quite a few hits on Khabib but he had no oomph in them anymore.

^ Yh his power had already dwindled. Most knew Conor only had two and a half rounds in him before he tires. Then having Khabib on top of him and beating his head into the canvas in that 2nd round didn't help at all. All that drained him. But if it wasn't obvious before for some in the Mendes fight, it should now be fully known what Conor's kryptonite is and that's wrestling. Looks like the hardcores were right this time.

Yh both were ugly incidents, but the brawl after this fight is gonna really hurt the sports image.

That EA cover curse is something ...coupled with the cunningness of the MMA gods and trippled with the ever unreliable MMA math.

this fight just goes to show that hand pawing should be implemented as well as wrist control and other ground control mechanics .

The against the cage grappling mechanics and animations.

All of this gotta be in UFC 4 .

I predicted Khabib would win via submission after mauling and controlling McGregor for awhile; McGregor did surprisingly well defending off his back and he was able to reclaim guard and stand back up a couple times. Khabib was relentless with his takedowns and once he got ahold of the legs he wasn't letting go; McGregor even mocked Khabib before the fight because he "holds onto the legs for dear life".

Well, guess what? It works if you're a high level wrestler. GSP does it too. Then he tied up McGregor's legs in a triangle before advancing and putting more weight on him. Posturing up, stacking him, mounting him, and using knee on belly.

And I remember people complained about Khabib''s striking being too good in UFC 3; he has solid boxing and a nice jab while he even knocked McGregor on his back. McGregor must have been thinking about those takedowns which takes focus away from getting the timing right in his standing exchanges.

Alright, Conor lost! Now can we please get rid of that awful art now? Maybe get a new cover fighter next game? Lol

But btw, man we really need some grinding/struggle function for takedowns. WWE has this "find the sweet spot" feature for chain wrestling, maybe UFC can work something in there like that. I'dunno, but we need something.

Danis taunted Khabib and that's what sparked that rage. Conor attacked Khabib's teammate that was climbing the fence which is what led to the other guys trying to fight him.

Khabib had to endure countless of verbal abuse about his religion, family, wife and father specifically, history, for months on end.

Can you imagine how much rage Khabib had inside, yet still put down an almost masterclass performance against the UFC's Golden Boy? The man who was not suspended at all for assaulting Marc Goddard when he was reffing a Bellator Event, basically got away scot free for the Dolly incident, it was even used for PROMOTION. He tried to attack Aldo, threw bottles at Nate, he has done nearly everything.

This is what happens when you stroke ethnic and religious tension as a means to attack your competitor. I don't necessarily condone it, but I ABSOLUTELY do not blame Khabib one bit.
