Which new submissions would you guys like to see in UFC 4? For me, aside from some unique ones, there are a few basic ones i'd like to see too. Here's my list...

An actual Darce choke from the top. Y’know. The one that is normally done in MMA. The Darce is my favorite arm choke and has been woefully mistreated in every MMA game so far. Either it isn’t in there or there is some weird condition to be met first in order to do it. In EA’s series it is only from the bottom. In THQ’s series it could only be done after rocking someone in the ground.

Other than that I’ve been pretty pleased with the amount of submissions. I’d like the more common ones added to more positions (the arm triangle should be in mount, an actual mounted triangle, etc.). Also some more unique ones like the Suleov Stretch.

More positions added means more submissions added as well. A 50/50 position with multiple leg locks such as the toe hold, kneebar, and both heel hooks.

With UFC 4 they have the chance to add so many things that could be considered secondary now that they have a great groundwork. A revamped grappling system is what most people here want and submissions are obviously a part of that.

^ Good point about the Darce. Gave me a few ides i'll update my post with. Would also be cool if certain fighters could transition to, or perform a submission counter into a Darce choke attempt from postured up half guard. Like when the SUB fighter goes for the underhook & sweep. We see darce attempts a lot from there irl. The darce from bottom in EA UFC is rare.

Nothing new comes to mind now ...but I still believe that the rear naked from back flat should be more lethal especially from grapplers and submission experts. It should be 3 gates at most for others and 2 for grapplers and submission artistes .

This list is so underrated. These submissions have to be in the next game.
Especially since these submissions are more common than submissions already in the game.

But this is based on stats:

In 2018, There were as many arm triangle finishes as armbars. The majority were initiated from half guard DOM, side control DOM or mount DOM.

In 2018, there more D'Arce choke finishes than Peruvian Neckties, Japanese Neckties, Anacondas and Bulldog chokes combined.

In 2018, two of the three kimura finishes were from a dominant position. Jimmy Crute recently finished Paul Craig from half guard DOM.

In 2018, guillotine chokes were the second most common submission in the UFC. The standing versions of this submission need to be represented in the game.

I think a revamp in system is important first. That way we can get a better, more realistic feel to subs and therefore can work with what subs would work best.

Having a system where you can change submissions easy and where if the player defends a certain way it allows for different sub options. Then you can implement new subs into that.

Essentially Im saying get a new better system in place with the basics for it, then add new subs.

Yh. A transition based sub system would be ideal imo. But hey some of us have been beating this dead horse for a while (since UFC 1) now, so join the club.

And something else I'd love to see are submission reversals, such as punching out of a leglock or going for one of your own, Von Flue choke counter to a guillotine and stuff like that.

Back crucifix, body triangle, half guard, quarter guard, butterfly, deep half and a metric ton more.

I've been talking about the von flu choke counter since January 2018 ... I've only seen ovince saint pereux do it tho. That's his signature submission. He's not a popular character so he gets no love .

A lot of fighters do not have their signature moves in this game .

Honestly, I think we just need a more comprehensive ground game with more positions and transition based submissions. UFC 2 was great because they put a large emphasis on creating a great ground game. I expect them to put that level of effort into the ground game for UFC 4 as well. So add any submissions you want, as long as it fits into a more complex ground game with TBS.
