I am about to go on a bit of tangent so bear with me. I am a Black dude. I have noticed that White dudes and Black dudes have vastly different tastes when it comes to TV. I will give a few shows that are popular and possibly iconic to White dudes but are almost unwatchable to Black dudes (Friends, Seinfield, Glee, Frasier, Everybody Loves Raymond, Sex in the City and Home Improvement). Meanwhile, I dont know too many White dudes that would consider Good Times, In Living Color, 227, Martin, A Differnt World or Living Single iconic shows. I think its just a cultural difference. I have heard White friends reference Parks & Rec and the Office, but I am honestly not able to tolerate a full episode of either of them. Not saying they suck. Just saying I cant relate or really speak about them

That is to say that movies, games, and sports are probably better references in terms of generally universally agreed upon exceptionalism.

So when I think of exceptional movies and video games the common theme is that they make money and they were not designed to singular make the audience happy they were made to be good and in the creators doing the ended up great.

Star Wars OT, Matrix, Mass Effect, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, Blade Runner, Batman Trilogy. In sports, Ali, Jacki Rob, Lebron, Jordan, Jon Jones, McGregor, Gretzky, Larry Bird, Tiger, Serena Williams, Babe Ruth. All were originals and different from what was typical. They did things there way. All made money in the end. All legendary.

I just wish the game was committed to making a great MMA sim. It seems like they are committed to making an MMA based game shaped on what the loudest people want. Its that mentality that is the beginning and end of the games true problems. The terminator problem is only a byproduct.

Well its to do with culture, people tend to enjoy entertainmemt more when they relate to it. This is a similar issue to womens representation in comics etc. But your view point of disregarding things due to you not liking it just is a false stand point.

Ali held very controversial views and therefore was popular in a certian crowd. McGregor was mega popular due to being irish and having fantastic charisma, people found him polarizing. Jones, pretty sure more people hate jones. All these make a "singular" audience happy. In all fairness no audience is singular so that is also a false point.

You are now assuming what there vision is and comparing it to what you want it to be. Maybe this is there vision, and unfortantly its not what you want.

Being subjectively enjoyable and objectively influential are two different things. You keep mentioning the original Star Wars but I don't like them. Yet, I would be a complete moron if I said they were not iconic/influential/classics.

I literally just listed five "exceptional games" that made no money.

Athletes are not even remotely comparable to entertainment and art. Tiger Woods made more money than other golfers because he destroyed his competition in a lucrative sport. Avatar is the highest grossing film yet it is not considered a great piece of art. How do you explain that? You mentioned how you can't stand Seinfeld yet it obliterated records.

Obviously marketability is a part of an athlete's job but everyone in your list is a pantheon in their respective sport. You didn't list Brian Scalabrine for a reason.

I'm a black dude and I enjoy every one of those shows except for Glee and Home Improvement. I also enjoyed everyone of those black shows too. All of them are arguably classics.

Regarding the EAs vision . There is no evidence they have a vision or are leading the community. They seem to just try to fix complaints. Now if they had a vision of making the best mma Sim and heard feedback of how its not Sim you fix the complaints by followings the vision of making it Sim. That is different than just pacifying us with a bad fix
