I like a lot of the additional ideas for this as well. We definitely need to be able to be more evasive and have other defensive options first because if not, nonstop pressure spam would peak.

Dont change anything about the blocking except adding parries and adding a gradual stamina tax for consecutively blocked strikes. Body shots are the key to fixing the block.

This is the wrong way to look at it am afraid, I think the body hook range is to so more with hit detection and how we move when we throw.

I would be against for what we had in the past... but you know what? After that knee thread that the top guys said that the knee were fine, since they don’t drain to much stamina for the opponent, wtf... speed up body punches and drain their stamina drain too ... let’s mix!

...no... just slow down combos and knees

Body spam is easier to deal with then knees. And its more realistic then knee elbow ****heads. Parries for straight punches and the footwork suggestions would pretty much solve everything

...and just for the visual, parry animations should probably be used for most, if not all, body kicks. IRL, if a fighter isn't simply stepping out of range of a body kick, they are usually parrying it. You don't usually see fighters crossing their arms across their stomachs to block in most cases.

Footwork really needs to be the best way to avoid a lot of strikes really if we want sim gameplay. But I do thing a lot of the community ruined this tbh. People hated a simple backdash because people felt like it was annoying and "running" away all fight, so they get rid of it. And just recalling those old posts on here, people really made it sound like they didn't want footwork, it wasn't just because the back step looked kinda off either. People legit gave the devs the impression that footwork shouldn't be so "OP" *eyeroll*. So I blame you guys, lbvs.

Every time I stream or I'm in parties with friends, I make it blatantly clear that it makes NO sense that the Stiff Arm Retreat costs stamina, but yet driving somebody to the cage costs NO stamina unless they deny early.

                  Block suggestions and rebalancing discussion

This thread has devolved as all good threads eventually do, but I would just like to point out how quickly we all forget our past. Of course the game was in a much different state, but the principles are the same: there was a time with stronger body punches and the game was much worse for it.

Everyone was in agreement that it was both unrealistic and ruinous to the meta. Ranked was practically unplayable.

And MartialMind has already proven that body shots are the same speed as in real life, so increasing the speed is unrealistic and asinine.

And as a side note, I love when people completely mischaracterize the debate on footwork like mfs weren’t trying to make it so using the left stick alone would be able to dodge well placed offense. And completely ignore the variety of footwork changes we got based off the thread. But no, “nothing was done and the people that actually know what they are talking about just scared the devs from making changes even though they made like 8 good ones because of them”. You guys are terrible. I’m going back into hibernation before I get another hemorrhoid.

He used a light heavy weight as an example. And it still didn’t quite match up right. If you absolutely believe you should be punished with a rolling thunder for whiffing one then you are the one who’s thinking is asinine. Frames don’t lie bro. Everyone wasn’t in agreement. Several people here have voiced their distaste for the change. It is also the reason pressure is more viable. Funny. They call ME an egomaniac lmao.

Re: Block suggestions and rebalancing discussion

Overall aggression it’s because strikes in general are already too fast... if u speed up body punches people will use it to pressure you too...

                        We have:
-Combo speed advantage over single strikes + extra input speed

                        - low stamina drain on blocked strikes

                        - strikes have huge range and follow the fighter with auto track

When you pressure you are also deffending yourself if the opponent don’t make you miss, if they speed up body punches ythey would also use it to pressure guys and probably have stamina advantage even throwing 100+ strikes a round... so no... if we gonna tweak speed we should put less speed in combos and see what we receive...

Ps. It’s better block while moving or stop moving while blocking!?

I think the block breakdown is currently the same for these two options.

How do you think it guys think it should be?

It was an in game doubt that I had... fighters trainers don’t want the fighter in one place receiving shots... I believe defending while move should be better
