EA UFC 4’s scoring system SHOULDN’T emulate real life scoring. Here’s why.

The scoring for MMA gaming and real life MMA should be extremely different. The one thing we shouldn’t be trying to make as realistic as possible, is the scoring.

Attempting to emulate human error in videogame scoring is in fact unrealistic, because the factors that allow for human error in real life don’t exist in the game.

In real life, there are literally infinite possibilities of what can happen in a fight. A fighter may go for a move that has never been seen before, and the judges just have to make up their mind how to score it. Whereas in a videogame, any move you do already exists and is on a list somewhere. So there should be no question as to how to score a particular move.

An MMA videogame is very limited and straightforward compared to real life, and as such, the scoring can (and should) be entirely consistent and objective. I’m all for having slight variances to emulate different judges - but even these variances should be consistent and objective.

I usually agree with everything you say but you lost me here.

Iffy judging gives you more of an incentive to finish and imo that’s how it should be.

Which also reminds me that players can actually pause during the breaks to check out the stats. That shouldn't be an option.

Imo the judging should be as close to the judging criteria as possible. Also add draws.

You’re actually arguing in favour of inaccurate judging thats a new one. Terrible idea. This is a game, and a competitive one. it doesn’t need to **** you over for no reason

Yeah I dont think the judges should be 100% accurate. That’ll lead to people gaming the system as much as possible.

And this aint exactly a popular e-sport.

Have the judges be exact for rank if y’all want but I’d rather have toss up rounds like irl. If you wanna guarantee a round then you should have to clearly outplay your opponent

Intentionally bad judging should obviously never be a thing. It wouldn't happen anyway, as I doubt UFC wants to promote it as an aspect of MMA.

One simple idea is having judges that prioritize different aspects. One judge may have a bias for damage whereas the other one prefers top control or whatever. Then a third judge is neutral. Personally I think it would be cool if there were different kinds of judges and they were picked at random.

Additionally, most fights have a definitive winner so you shouldn't get screwed by judges that don't have a bias towards your style all that often.
                ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Do not agree . Let's make the game more realistic in other areas brother.

                    Different judges have biases though.

I had a hunch that I had heard that but I wasn't entirely sure. But thanks for confirming Alberto.

Once draws are added, a lot of terrible decisions would be fixed.
