Excited for Part 3 since it looks like I'm going to have to use this method for UFC 4.

Unless the career mode in UFC 4 has improved and this information hasn't been released yet?

    Thanks aholbert.

Career mode has been improved but its not a franchise mode. The articles have pretty much explained that.

Looks like its back to using WMMA 5.

I'm a ****up. I have too much going on right now. I'm modding NCAA14 and Madden. I'm also working on a super secret potential EA UFC project (not affiliated with EA).

I completely spaced on finishing the tutorial. I promise I'll try to get something for you guys this week.

            Part 3

Simulation: Remember that you are managing two saves at the same time (In my example its July and August) so you have to keep them on the same timeline. That means if you advance a week in the July save, you have to advance a week in the August save. What you will find is that in the August save, fighters will get injured and you will occasionally have to replace fighters (remember to designate any injured fighters in your database as injured and “freeze” the fighter who is the replacement) or cut fights if you can’t find a replacement fighter.

Month over: Now that you have simmed all of the fights in your first save (the July save) time to move on to the next month. What sucks is you can’t just keep simming and use the same save. You have to delete the July save (because July is over) and create a September save. BUT BEFORE YOU DO THAT, you have to follow do this step:

Go to PREGAME INCIDENTS and update each of the fighters (except for the “frozen” fighters designated as “on hiatus”. So that means for all of the fighters who have injuries or drug suspensions decrease their length of time out by a month. This can be time consuming depending on the size of your roster (I have 169 fighters with pre-game incidents right now).

After that, you can delete the first save (July save) and create a new save (September save)

Rankings: I’ve said this a lot but here comes the hard part. WMMA5 has a complicated rankings system. I’ll explain to you what the game does but keep in mind, YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO IT THIS WAY.

So the rankings are based on each fighter's RANKINGS score and that’s found in the CHARACTERS section in the database. Now each fighter is rated 1-1000 in the divisions that he/she fights in. WMMA5 factors in three things when awarding rankings points after a fight…..ODDS, WHERE THE FIGHTERS WERE RANKED and THE FINISH. If a fighter was a huge underdog (-300 or more) and KOs his opponent, he will get a big boost in rankings point and get a big jump in the rankings.

I will put the formula that WMMA5 uses in the next post. The reason I use the game's formula is it gives its the most realistic and fair formula, I've found.....but again......ITS COMPLICATED AS ****.

Again, you don’t have to use their formula. You can make it as simple or as complicated as you want it. You can change it so that odds don’t matter or fighters get extra points for FON. YOU ARE THE ONE WHO DECIDES WHAT THE RANKINGS ARE.

One note: New fighters in your universe should start at 500 points and fighters should never drop lower than 400. The reason for this is you don’t want it to take 6-7 wins for a new fighter to get into the top 10-15.

            Other:

Championships: After a championship fight, you have to update two sections in the database: BELTS and BELT LINEAGE. If someone retains their belt all you need to update is the last defense date and the number of defenses in BELTS and the number of defenses in BELT LINEAGE.

If there is a new champion, you need to create a new lineage entry in BELT LINEAGE and update the info in BELTS.

Just wanted to say thank you again for writing all of this up.

I might be confused on the two saves.

I just got the Modern Warriors most current update and the database has a start date of August 2020. My first save should be named August 2020 or should I name it September 2020 since my first card cannot happen until September Week 1 because the fighters need a full camp? Also, should the second save be created at the same time as the first one or after you have your results of the first card?

I'm probably making this harder than it should be.

                  Thanks again!

No you are actually on the right path.

You should name it sept 2020 because as you said the earliest you will be able to hold an even is the first week of Sept.

You shouldnt start the October save until you have booked all of your Sept fights AND froze each of the September fighters so that they wont be available in your October save.

                      That helps me a lot.

Before starting the October save, do you change the start date in the database to October or leave it as August?

Also, how many cards do you normally schedule each month?

You only have to change the date in the database once you have completed a save. For example, the database only lets you enter cards that are prior to the date of in the database. So you will be forced to change it to October once you start running September cards.

So I run my universe along with the real UFC schedule so its usually 3-4 cards a month.

Re: EA UFC/WMMA 5 Universe Mode Tutorial

Alright, so I have a few questions:

                          1) I've finished my first 2 cards in my starting save file (September 2020), and I've entered the results using the "Quick Add Entries" and "Pre-game Results" like you instructed. Will the database's ranking system update itself using the WMMA formula or do I need to manually adjust each fighter's ranking score in the character menu to reflect those card's results?

                          2) When I assessed the fighters' injuries following each card, every single fighter had the red cross icon on their profile page. However, some just said "recuperating - 15 days or so" and others had "medical suspensions" between 20-40 days. Should I continue to freeze these fighters or can I delete their hiatuses? I can't tell if the medical suspensions/recuperating statuses count as "injuries" or if you're referring to more serious ones that I just haven't encountered yet.

                          3) Finally, I'm having the most trouble understanding the dual-timelines and save files. I set up my 4 September cards and froze all the fighters immediately before advancing a single day in my original save file. I simulated through the month of August, and now I'm in mid-September after finishing the first 2 cards. You said that the second file should be advancing simultaneously as the first. So, I've already created the 2nd (in my case "October 2020") and have caught up with the original file in mid-September. Do I just set up my October cards on "October 2020" and keep simming while I finish the last two September cards on my original "September 2020" save?

                            1) Rankings you have to do on your own. My process is after each fight, I determine how many points each fighter will get depending on the fight result and the ingame rankings system. After I've entered the card into the database, I go into each fighters "character" page, select rankings and add or subtract the points.

I WISH the game could do it automatically but I couldn't do that without learning how to hex edit a save.

                            2) My rule when it comes to injuries is: If its over 45 days, I round up.

So if someone has 46 days...I give them a 2 mos suspension.

If they have 4 mos and 1 week, I give them a 5 mos suspension.

If its under 45 days, I just delete their entry and I treat it like they are completely healthy.

                            3) I think I made a slight mistake in describing it in the tutorial. Here is how it should be set up at the start:

The best way to think of it is....the database is the past....September card is the present....the October card is the future.

Lets say the date of your database is August. You should create a save named September 2020. When you start your save, it will be the first week of August. The reason you call it "Sept 2020", is because the game makes you wait at least a month before you can hold a card. So the first fight you can schedule will be in the first week of September.

Once you start entering in cards to your database, you will have to change the date of the database to October. Why? Because the database is the past and you can only enter in cards that have already happened. If you dont change it, you wont be able to save your cards because the date of your cards will be AFTER the date of the database.

                            - Your second save should be October 2020 because you will be using this card to schedule the October fights. You should run this concurrently with the September save. Now remember to freeze all of the September fighters BEFORE you start the October save so that they arent available.

                            - Once September is finished, delete that save and create a new November one.

I hope that explains it a little.
