Can someone explain how to transition in the clinch and how to block sub attempts.
First holding RB and X on Xbox throws an overhand and does not initiate a clinch....Once I am in the clinch I can not figure how to transition to different clinch positions....It says right stick but it does nothing....Also how in the world do you block sub attempts?Tags: None -
Re: Can someone explain how to transition in the clinch and how to block sub attempts
RB is your grapple modifier in the clinch. Use it with the high face buttons to transition. High block defends against submissions in the clinch. Low block defends against takedowns.
Left stick towards your opponents back while you're in single under cage takes the back. -
Re: Can someone explain how to transition in the clinch and how to block sub attempts
Are there transitions available without pressing RB? Or do you have to hold RB to transition in the clinch?RB is your grapple modifier in the clinch. Use it with the high face buttons to transition. High block defends against submissions in the clinch. Low block defends against takedowns.
Left stick towards your opponents back while you're in single under cage takes the back.
Also, does low blocking in the clinch defend against knees AND takedowns? Or is a modifier needed to defend a takedown?
And lastly, does legacy controls revert these things back to UFC 3 controls (takedowns defended via RT + down, clinch via LT + up, etc)?
Thanks!Xbox GT: the relaxed guyComment

Left stick does the transition to the back from single under cage, and during TDs against the cage. Are there transitions available without pressing RB? Or do you have to hold RB to transition in the clinch?

Low block defends against all body strikes and TDs/Trips.
Legacy only applies to the ground.Comment

Re: Can someone explain how to transition in the clinch and how to block sub attempts
In single under not against the cage, is there a way to transition to anything as the defender? How do you escape it? By moving away?Comment

Re: Can someone explain how to transition in the clinch and how to block sub attempts
Escape is always pressing away form the opponent with the left stick.
You cannot transition once you are in SUB single under off the cage.
You can both transition to single under from collar tie though.Comment

Ok understood. One more question btw. How do you stop the driving td's? I'm using street jesus who has pretty decent td defense at an 89, but I can't stop Usman for nothing. I can stuff some, but once he drives me, I get put on my back. And on another note, can you still sprawl? All my td defense just goes into single under.Comment

Re: Can someone explain how to transition in the clinch and how to block sub attempts
Awesome Geoff thank you....But how do you initiate the clinch? Does it just happen organically? Because it says holding RB plus x initiates it and it does for a couple of fighters in the beta but not all of them....If I want to initiate a clinch with Maia how would I do it as RB plus X with him just throws an overhand?Comment

If your takedown denial timing is late, you cannot do anything except go for a ride and wait for the attacker to turn the corner and defend it. It's all about the setup and the denial timing. If you had poor denial timing you are at the mercy of the attacker and can only react to what he does.Ok understood. One more question btw. How do you stop the driving td's? To sprawl, deny with low block while pressing away from your opponent with the left stick.Comment

Re: Can someone explain how to transition in the clinch and how to block sub attempts
It works but only with certain fighters....For example Maia and Masvidal all this does is throw an overhand......I wonder if only certain fighters can initiate clinch and also the ones that this works for can not throw an overhand cause the command is the same for bothComment

I wouldn't think it's a moveset thing. Are you sure you're accounting for stance?Comment
