    Ref stoppages and FTF

Last time this came up GPD said the higher ups want more definitive outcomes. Now there's more demand for it than ever. I posted two polls one to here and one to reddit, ref stoppages were the highest polled even more than Dana white mode which is surprising. So since there is so much demand maybe we can get it now if we continue the demand.

The way it should work is like this:
Deplete the health bar from any ground position to initiate FTF. Deplete the health bar again and you KO your opponent. If the opponent just holds block without trying to transition out the ref stops the fight as a TKO.

It's strange to me that you have to explain what a TKO is to a development team that has the exclusive license to the UFC for the last 8 years.

FTF should be the same as the new GNP too. Sways block and post or transition.

They need to follow the UD3 blueprint for FTF as a whole. It looks a mess & it has not an ounce of variety. I see lots of people saying they are cancelling pre-orders over all the different video/social media platforms , mainly revolving around this singular complaint of how the FTF animations look and behave. Some of my favorite top/most liked comments:

2:38 seriously? Khabib looks like he's in the wwe the way hes hitting. Cmon ea
The KO animations are so ****ty they feel stiff and robotic and just not realistic at all
Why do the opponent's always go unconscious during TKOs? It looks so sloppy, we want realistic stoppages EDIT: Due to the likes, it's likely EA will see this so I just want you guys at EA to know that you're all lazy AF with all your games. All you do is add patches and try to market it as a "new game" with "all new features" such a lazy company, I miss THQ. You don't deserve the UFC....
          Knockout physics are still trash.
lmao.. 3 hammerfist to an unprotected face and she didn’t even flinch as a reaction.. not even a squirm to stop the blows. Terrible work EA. As usual.
Everyone still has the same hook animations and punch animations, there are no tkos, some people still look how they look in ufc 3, no doctors stoppages, the ragdolls still suck, the stunned red flashing screen sucks, the commentators don’t change, mouthpieces always stay in the fighters mouths, the ref still isn’t on the screen during the entire fight, no corner stoppages, the ground game still sucks and so does the clinch, this could have been a big ufc 3 update =EA isn’t getting my money again
The fact that this sounds like it’s done on a two dollar Mic just shows how little EA care. Pre-order cancelled no TKO or Dr stoppages
Still no tko’s, better ko animations, Referee still stands there as a robot... man what is this
I can make an entire page continually pulling quotes if i wanted to and mind you these are not normal comments, they have hundreds to thousands of upvotes all displaying at the top. Worse yet this was all taken from one single trailer on the EA youtube page as well, so imagine how many pages across social media/streaming platforms are filled with pissed off people i could show as examples.

Last game EA UFC 3 i feel it was an issue that was clearly evident, but this release the fustrations with FTF gone even outside the forums like OS/reddit. Mr creative director has failed the project since picking up the licences in 2014 and has failed his talented developers, he is a complete joke. I hope he reads all the comments and then releases the licence to some other developer next year.

ud3 knockouts and ftf with these graphics would be awesome! Unfortunately I can't see ea listening so I guess robotic and delayed knockouts are what they want.

It is hard to think that 4 games and not adding any of that, without medical stoppages, with their respective injuries, not being able to finish an even fight in a draw, without seeing the mouthguard fly in a good blow ...

Now you can say: those things are occasional, and much time and resources would be wasted on them, but gentlemen of EA, all those things are pure reality in the fight, a fighting game where there is not even an injury, it is not real.

Most definitely needed addition, but I think we're getting stuns on the ground from what I saw on a different thread and a beta video on YT so I'm excited for that. Also, I saw some interesting TKO animations with ref interactions that looked good but buggy (beta). I'm definitely hopeful TKO scenarios will look much better this game. Also, I'm not sure if blocking while swaying is possible on the ground, but I saw some animations in the beta where the SUB fighter had their hands up while moving their head but then let go after, so I hope it's in. Also can we still strike from SUB positions when the opponent is postured up?

It is? Nice. I only noticed it went to knee on belly sometimes. But other times I thought it went to the old FTF.

Finish the fight. It's the position where the downed opponent rotated the stick to stay awake. There are subs available too.

I just found this on duckduckgo: It looks like FTF and Sprawl were added in a PATCH to UFC 1 because the game shipped without those basic features. Even though it was a band-aid they just left it in that way since 2014!

EA Sports UFC received a free update this week that adds three fighters to the next-gen mixed martial arts game. Of the three new fighters, two are in the bantamweight division, as bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw joins the roster along with Takeya Mizugaki. The third addition is in the welterweight division, Tyron Woodley. Additionally, the free update includes a number of bug fixes as well as some gameplay improvements. The developer added sprawl animations after defending power takedowns and the ability to throw extra shots at opponents that get knocked out in order to finish the fight. Plus, both power takedowns and side control sweeps have been removed from fighters that wouldn't normally be able to pull them off. For those that prefer being more cordial in their bouts, EA also added new glove-touching animations at the start of each round, which fighters can do by pressing L2 on PS4 or LT on Xbox One. To keep fights moving in EA Sports UFC, stamina will no longer regenerate for players that stand around and hold the block button, and they can break clinches when pressed against the cage by pressing L3. I usually dont post too much negative about these games because I try my best to overlook small things that are either left out or need some improvement but lack of true TKOs, lack of referee interaction is a HUGE deal to many of us. I couldnt tell you how many MMA fights I've seen where the downed opponent is covering up while the top fighter is raining down a barrage of strikes and after so many unanswered punches or failure to improve their position, the ref jumps in and pulls the winning fighter off.

It's much more common than a fighter dropping 3 or 4 punches on a downed opponent and they just go limp and the winning fighter immediately stops as soon as he sees the fighter is out and just gets up on his own. That would be awesome if they all had that amount of restraint but we all know that a fighter is going to continue to throw punches until the ref steps in. Problem is we are missing the ability to finish fights realistically, gets old seeing almost every fight end the same way.
