I'll speak for myself: When I heard about the lack of customization and the removal of Gameface, I flipped. To the point where I got a few warnings about how I spoke to the devs.

The small bright side is if you are trying to recreate missing UFC fighters like Calvin Kattar, you will likely find an archetype that fits him. It wont be perfect. He will have some moves or a rating or 2 that doesnt perfectly fit him but it will be close.

The other bright side is that if people are loud enough about this, it will likely get changed.

Anyway, it was a huge mistake by EA. A huge one and its inexcusable.
define "loud" cuz ppl on youtube comments, on forums like these or sherdog have been pretty negative about this specific thing related to the caf's so far.... Even the ranked players not happy about having CAF's in the ranked mode... and CAF players are not happy because for the CAF's to be in ranked mode they got super duper limited to what you can customize..... So it seems like literally no one is happy, and im pretty sure CAF community are casuals? So isnt that the player base they are supposed to be targeting?

Ive been vocal about this since the first 30 seconds of knowing how this will go down... Its crazy to me that they are willing to change it but start out with such poor decisions... Ive said it before and il say it again, how in the heck are these decisions even made... i just dont get it... it seems like there is no logic behind it....It just seems like the person in charge (Brian Hayes?) is not in tune with the base and is making super wild decisions that go from 0 to 1 million from 1 game to the next....

Also i feel like we should be able to adjust at the very least our top 5 moves/perks....we have a hard cap thats lower then top rated UFC fighters... that in itself is balanced enough...not to mention the locked in presets.

Like how hard is it to provide lets say a judo archetype? Just swap some perks around and couple move lists along with few attributes... those features are in the game already.. all you gotta do is swap them around...I refuse to believe that to add few more archetypes would break the budget for a AAA game.....How long does that take? Im sure people here have been creating CAF's non stop with all sorts of archetypes and could do it in a few hours....

You telling me you wouldnt want to see "sambo" as an archetype? or Karate? These things are in the game, just a tad bit more care would make all the difference....

You, me and people who are on OS or Sherdog dont matter as much as others when it comes to who they are trying to sell the game to. But you can be vocal and if you are vocal enough they will consider a change. I know that from experience.

They were not thinking of someone like me when they made this decision. They werent thinking of the guy who wants to make a super accurate Geoff Neal or even a Fedor.

This was designed for the guy who really only cares about how his fighter looks and doesnt want to spend time editing every stat/move/perk.

Now I know the running joke here is "but the data says this" but this is a case where it does. EA knows how long the average person spent creating CAFs in UFC 3. They know how long they spend in the moves, stats and perk section. According to that data, a person like me who likes super accurate stats is rare.

So in order to encourage people to create more CAFS and for balance reasons, they took this approach. I'll admit, it does cut the amount of time that you have to spend when creating a CAF.

My issue isnt even that they added the archetypes. My issue is that they didnt need to remove the editing for offline players to do this.

Its this all or nothing pattern with EA in all of their games. They couldve left in the option to edit stats but they were short sighted and only concerned with a quick way for people to create CAFs.

Also, there are different versions of archetypes within the categories. I dont know if there is a Judo one (there probably is) but I heard people complain about no Muay Thai one and there is one in the kickboxer archetype.

That's really disappointing honestly. I'm really trying hard to be excited for this game, but this really kills my hype. The first person I usually make for my universe mode is Fedor Emelianenko, but I can't have him one dimensional like this. I guess I'll just make mid level fights in the UFC

Hopefully they fix this soon. Why can't there be a separate thing for customizing CAFs? Maybe there can be an option for making ranked CAFs and offline CAFs. Also, do you know how many CAF slots there will be?

          22 slots. Same as always.

All of these requests have already been made. ****, I requested offline CAF editing back in April. They said they would look into it for a future patch. Lets see what they do.

They really know how to kill hype. How hard would it be to have 50 CAF slots? I honestly don't know, but can it be that difficult?

Do you genuinely think that after, potentially, a year of complaining, they might add certain features back? I'm really sad that they took out gameface specifically. A gamechanger on youtube told me that the technology is now 'defunct' and it wasn't owned by EA in the first place?? Do you have any more info on the exclusion of GameFace?

It makes almost no sense for them to add more customization options, visually, and remove a feature that was, most times, integral to making real-looking fighters/people. They could have just made it more accessible by giving a tutorial or implementing it in game / providing a direct link etc. I'm really disappointed by this.

Yeah, Gameface is gone. UFC was the last EA game that was still using that tech and now the tech has been declared defunct. This one was pretty much out of the team's hands. Now they couldve tried to find some other tech that works or added a better sculpting tool but they didnt.

There doesnt appear to be a facial tech replacement coming for UFC 4 either.

You can only choose between Boxing, Kickboxer, balanced, jiu jitso and wrestler, (not muay thai, judo, karate, sambo ...).

we will not be able to modify the statistics as we are, with it nothing of singularity in the CAF fighters that we can create.

Only 22 CAF can be saved as in previous games, it was so difficult to leave at least 100 spaces

But we will have a diversity of ridiculous hairstyles, all kinds of pants, shirts, hats, tiger heads, bear, lion ... everything is very striking.

Honestly it is very difficult for me to get excited with this UFC 4, each news that I find out takes me further away from the game, and it bothers me a lot, I really want a fighting game, but honestly all this sucks.

There are categories within those archetypes so you will likely be able to find one that you can use to make a Karate fighter or MY fighter.

Everything is to encourage "casual" players to create CAF, but it turns out that we will continue with only 22 CAF of creation. 🤦🏻*♂️

Well i dont need them to give me EVERY single tiny thing to edit on my CAF.... ive stated numerous times, which seems to be aligned with what you or EA were going for and thats "spending less time making a CAF" where i said "ok let me change 5 of my top moves, let me decide what they are, or my top 5 attributes while still being under the CAF cap, or my top 5 perks" that isnt customizing everything, thats just a tiny portion, few extra minutes that changes a lot in terms of your decision making.

Also i linked a video with a guy showing all the archetypes and i believe you are talking about "razor" from balanced tab, but again, he has like perks for it, but his stats seem strange, like he has 3 star cardio and 3 star chin which no one will use... why would you pick someone with bad cardio and bad chin.. its the 2 most important stats in the game.... so that archetype is automatically ruined by these random stats, people that dont know better will use them for fun, and wont get good results when running into someone else of equal skill but better archetype.

Here is the video with all the stars/archetypes

I feel like its not too much to ask to be able to pick my top 5 striking moves, or ground moves, or something along those lines, the CAF is already capped, and its capped below top rated roster fighters, dont know what more we want for a mode that is not casual friendly, kinda seems to contradict the emphasis of "data" here.

Friend, understand that Aholbert32 is not in accordance with the direction that EA has taken in the edition of the CAF.

At least that's what I want to understand when translating it

Although I do not usually write, this that I am reading forces me to do it, I am one of the players who likes to play offline, I love editing my own fighters and playing with friends and family, I have been waiting for this game for two years, but now I am This, we continue with the miserable figure of only 22, it is removed to be able to create to our liking, the muay thai, sambo is eliminated ..., but, that if, we give hair unicorns, bear heads, tigers ..., They tell us that they do not speak fights that end in a draw and defend this by saying that it is not a casual thing, but gentlemen of EA, do you think what you are doing is normal? That you know gentlemen of EA, if they want to find other types of players to sell more, what you are achieving is that the real fans are disappointed, you have already lost me, I will not buy this game unless I hear that it has been put a dlc that fix all the trash you have done, because for this, Fortnite already exists I will continue with my old undisputed 3, which seems like a lie that being from a lower generation of consoles and a game from almost a decade ago, I will continue to beat you

If we continue with the 22 CAF of creation, I ask EA to please leave the possibility of having a fighter base stored in external memory, and when you want to remove a fighter from the game, to use another fighter that you have stored in my memory, no remove the rest of the ones in the game, that is linkable with the free space left by the fighter that you erase in the game, not with the rest.

That way it would solve the problem of not having enough CAF in the game.

@Aholbert, do you know whether we can finally edit records on our CAF's after four games?

I'm not really hopeful about this one, I can imagine it's extremely challenging to add a feature like that when you only had 8 years.
