Clinch fighting is awful. Stiff and unenjoyable. I love how you as the aggressive fighter can barely do anything outside knees or an occasional judo throw.
How do you block body knees against the cage?

You had ample opportunities to defend clinch beforehand when everyone was complaining about stagnancy, trivial animation memorization and lackluster damage possibilities. You were not known as some clinch white knight.
Let's say they remove the knee escape. What's now stopping the defender from moving away the second you put them against the clinch?
I feel the same about the ground game in 4 compared to 3.
2) You shouldn't be able to escape just by moving away in any scenario when on the fence.Comment

1) I don’t follow, why would I have to be a “white knight”? I made a lot of suggestions for all areas in UFC 3 including the clinch. Believing something should be improved doesn’t mean I have to like whatever replaced the old system. The clinch wasn’t perfect in UFC 3 but I’d 100% take the clinch against the fence in 3 over the clinch in UFC 4.

2) But you can and that's the reality we live in. I am only interested in talking about the knee escape and its purpose in the clinch system as of Patch 3.0 and whether the clinch (as of Patch 3.0, not whatever ideal clinch we have in mind) would be better without the knee escape. My ideal clinch system would also promote control FYI.¯\_(ツ)_/¯Comment
