button layout which I do like at least for the base movments:
LB- jab
RB - cross
sq- hook
tri-overhand/uppercut
x-left leg kick
o-right lk
so currently the LT modifies to the body kicks and punches and RT to the head for kicks and replaces punches with Teep's
when you are in clinch range instead of throwing a leg-kick it will be a knee to the body and instead of a hook/overhand it will be an elbow
right stick currently is sway back, block high, block low and clinch (L-up-down-right)
I also have d-pad and stick-click buttons availalbe
do you guys have a better idea or what would you change and what problems do you forsee?
I don't love the triggers because mentally it can be slightly confusing and you throw head instead of body or vise versa because of the fact that the triggers feel like left and right instead of body and head (at least to me)
Another note worth mentioning is I plan to release this with 2 match types, 1 full control like this and another with a simplified control scheme removing a bunch of moves and automating/randomizing others because it's so much control that I worry it's a potential barrier to just enjoying the game.
simplified would be:
x- leg attack
o-body attack
tri-head attack
sq- special attack (head kicks/head knee's)
RT - hold on
LT - push away
those would be automated with considerations such as range. I still think that could be fun and would allow the player to focus on defence more which I think is important (maybe more important!)
Last note: in either scheme I will be limiting the number of head kicks one can throw because in UFC i believe their importance is minimized by how many you can throw and how often they land and how they don't mimic the impact you see in real life. I'm thinking 6/round (this would also make more sense in the simplified control scheme and be confusing in the complex one)
