As crazy as this gameplay seems to literally all of us, this is exactly how the vast majority of the playerbase plays. And they have a blast doing it. It's good to have that kind of perspective sometimes.Comment

That's definitely true!! They had fun. People forget that. If one person jumped all over the details it wouldn't be as fun.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

It also shows that the paused pop-in walls of text are really ineffective for teaching the game.¯\_(ツ)_/¯Comment

Well in that situation yeah. You have 2 opponents trying to get back to the fight. I would think that is you were by yourself. You'll read a few of them.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Yeah, you would be more likely to read on your own. People read tutorials for a game like Dark Souls and they aren’t even that obvious to find.
This was a situation where it was two people trying to make a quick segment for a live TV show.

I take my xbox on the road for work a bunch, and I've seen many of my coworker's matches after a good amount of beverages. That clip was an accurate representation.
Well, a representation of people who don't own the game. So I wouldn't say 90%, or even assign a player base percentage for that matter.

People who own the game are naturally more inclined to want to get better and read and do tutorials.Comment

RM mentioned Dark Souls but Dark Souls in particular has a very minimalist approach where it uses very concise messages (Press R1/RB to attack) before presenting you with an option to use it.
My takeaway is to remove the forced tutorials (perhaps include a button like touchpad if you want tips?) and instead ask the player playing for the first time if they want an actual proper tutorial. Anyway it's fun to see people just have fun duking it our without worrying about metas or balance.¯\_(ツ)_/¯Comment

Re: An example of how 90% of the people who own this game play
I legit have NO DAMN IDEA about what most of the people here are complaining about when it comes to gameplay and meta. I dont know the OP grappling positions or the money combos. I dont study or care to study the meta behing this game. I play offline and for fun and as long as the game is somewhat realistic, I'm OK with it.
I think we overestimate the amount of time that people are willing to invest to get better at a video game. The devs have telemetry on how long people read tutorials and how often they are in practice mode and other features that help you improve and its not a lot.
Part of that could be because the tutorials in previous games were crap but I also think its because most people just want to play and have fun.Comment

It's always more fun playing against your buddies.
I would bet anything if they played a single game online, they'd stop having fun real fast.PSN: Lord__Hazanko
