When are we likely to see UFC 5 gameplay?

I'm guessing the latest would be March, or is that too soon?

Re: When are we likely to see UFC 5 gameplay?

    UFC 1 released 17th June 2014

    21 months later...

    UFC 2 released 15th March 2016

    23 months later...

    UFC 3 released 2nd February 2018

    30 months later...

    UFC 4 released 14th August 2020

Each game has taken slightly longer to release than the last., which the first 3 coming lightly less than 2 years apart, but with the 4th game being released 2.5 years later. In total, that's an average of basically 2 years between each game.

Going by the average, we should expect UFC 5 around August 2022, though from articles I've been reading online, it's expected for the game to release probably in September as that fits best with EA's release schedule of their other titles.

The first look at UFC 4 we got before release was a trailer on July 11th 2020. That's only one month before the game was released. For UFC 3, we got a video on November 10th 2017 - roughly 3 months before the game was released.

Considering that UFC 4 was the most successful title in the series so far (sales wise) I wouldn't be surprised if the marketing followed suit. Meaning that we probably won't get any info or gameplay until either July or August (assuming the game releases either August or September).

If they decide to reveal it 3 months before like in the past, then you're still looking at May or June before we get any trailers or gameplay.

So yeah, March is waaaaaaaay too soon. At absolute earliest you're talking maybe (big maybe) in May. But if I had to guess, I think we won't get any info until around August - and that's assuming that the game releases based on the 2 year average. If they take as long as they did to release UFC 4, then we're talking another 6 months after that, so we wouldn't get a release until February 2023, and no info until probably January 2023.

I wonder why it took them so long to release a game that uses the exact same engine. Might've been Covid, though.

If what I heard is true and the engine has adapted (Frostbite, right?) that might also be a reason to extend the release schedule.

The info above is probably the closest we'll get to the truth, so let's assume it'll be at the other end of this fresh year.

Where do you get the data on the sales for the series? If it was indeed more succesful, I assume they'll want to keep accellerating the release date and in that case we might see a release by the summer.

It was 100% Covid. It seriously affected the last few months of development.

Hayes commented publicly that they are using a new engine so I expect that it will likely cause a release date push but I dont know for sure. They havent told us when the planned release is.

If they run 5 like they ran 4....the first gameplay you'll see will be 18 minutes before stores open on drop day.

But seriously, I don't expect to see 5 until 2023 with all this new engine talk. What a mess of a series. 5 is kinda a milestone number for a game, right? I hope they put their energy into things that need fixing this time instead of finger f*cking unbroken things like striking inputs.

What gives you that idea? Milestones are determined by key changes, like transition from 2D to 3D, like FFVII and Mario 64. You can argue that the new engine will be a milestone, but not the number.

But yes, it'll be interesting to see how they'll approach it. A new gfx engine will definitely catch the eyes of people who might've skipped 4 for gameplay reasons.
