Questions about UFC 5?
Do you think they will continue to make the next installment of this game really unrealistic? Do you think the game developers will still choose to not interact with people that play this game to try to make improvements? Would you like someone else to be able to develop the next installment? Who?Tags: None -
Re: Questions about UFC 5?
I wished 2k would do any kinda mma game. I don't believe ufc 5 will be good. They will probably do even more casual stuff. I hope i'm very wrong. -

I believe that the game devs will interact with people through the official UFC discord and occasionally OS. The days of getting consistent time with a game dev like GPD on OS are long gone.
Sure, I'd love multiple MMA/UFC games but its not happening. EA just re-signed its exclusive deal with the UFC for multiple years.Comment

I think they will continue to create a game that appeals to who they believe is the biggest audience possible. They dont believe that creating a hyper realistic game serves that goal.

Re: Questions about UFC 5?
I'm cautiously optimistic. If nothing else, there HAS to be a new grappling system, right?
...Right? Please let there be a new grappling system. I can't take two more years of rock, paper, scissors every time a fight hits the ground.Comment

Re: Questions about UFC 5?
Any suggestions for an alternative? It's honestly not as bad as ppl think. The first UFC game (way back) had a system that was all about reaction and pressing the right counter buttons. 20 years later, this isn't much different, and I can't see what could change.Comment

Re: Questions about UFC 5?
I can't either, but it's really not enjoyable. I would say it's the biggest reason people stay away from the game tbh. I have a strong feeling they're going to try and make it less complex (if the trend of them catering to casual players sticks) so it doesn't drive away casual players. The key is making it simplistic, but also suitable for competitive play. I doubt they figure out a way to do that to be honest, but let's hope ayComment

Re: Questions about UFC 5?
I expect the ground game to be revamped a bit since they are using a new engine.
I hope it's similar to ud3 where we block transitions instead of the denial system. It would lead to a more active and scrambly grappling experience. You hold in the direction of a transition to block and the attacker would try to juke or swoop the stick to avoid the block and pass. It wouldn't just be filling a meter and transition like now.
The defender would have to try and match the next direction the attacker is going but the block will break down the more the attacker is able to go unblocked and vice versa for the defender to replenish the block. Defending and trying to pass costs stamina so it'll also be about stamina and ga management. So you can use different setups to get different transitions and it'll feel more liking throwing striking combos. Sorta like the gate sub system from ufc 3 but for transitions. Big difference is the fighters actively reflect your progress, trying to pass or block rather than being static waiting for one side to win the exchange.Comment

Re: Questions about UFC 5?
The way I would conceptualize it is to make a better stat system and mainly use that - and a factor of randomization - to determine the ground game. But I'm sure that would alienate a lot of 'skilled' players who hate RNG. But that is what you need to get casual players to hang. Also, that is a big source of frustration for online players. So I doubt they are excited to try this system.
It kinda works like that now, but skilled players will be able to stop you from dominating them on the ground. And the stats are all so close that there's no real specialists imo.Comment

Re: Questions about UFC 5?
I’m a casual MMA fan all I want is the career mode to be similar to NBA 2K or Undisputed 2010. I want my fighter to have a voice and to be able to answer press conference questions and post fight interviews with dialogue options as well as hyping up fights at a press conference or starting a fight at the weigh ins. Trash talk is a part of the UFC that’s missing EA has money and deep pockets it’s not hard to hire 4-5 guys and have them record a couple lines.Comment

Re: Questions about UFC 5?
Exactly. It's not hard to program, especially since they seemed to have made ALL the necessary assets. Everything was there: the conference room, the casual outfits for the character models,... All you need is a screen with a couple of options which will have a minor impact on the game itself. It's all immersion. They could've tied it to the rival "system".
Without this it's just fight after fight and I'm left wondering why I'm not just stringing together fights in "fight now". I guess because stats are improving and eventually you turn into a superfighter. The mode is OK but it could improve so much more.Comment

Having voiced fighters and dialogue options is something missing and EA better get with the times.Last edited by zello144; 03-19-2022, 10:12 PM.Comment

Re: Questions about UFC 5?
Yeah, I guess. PES2k20 had pressers too without dialogue and no real consequence and it was bland and boring, but that's partly because it was you - the manager - talking. So none of your stars were even pictured. Here it will be the faceoff and weigh-in, which is a lot more immersive. Whether or not it has sound doesn't matter to me personally, but you make a valid point: EA probably wants their games to look professional, and the lack of voiceovers will make it look amateurish to some.
The info about the new game I'm truly craving for is whether or not PC will be included. I highly doubt it, but if it gets confirmed I can kick my Xbox out as I barely play it at all if not for EA UFC. So as I haven't touched the game in a while it just sits on the shelf.Comment

Re: Questions about UFC 5?
I hope they try that for the next game. EAUFC3 had the camps included, even with their own dojo's, which was great. On the other hand, it had the stupid "goals" where EAUFC4 has the actual sparring sessions. They should combine the best of both games.
Apart from the first UFC game 20+ years ago, which just had tournament mode and title defense mode, we've always just made our CaF and went on the road to the title. That's how it'll always be, I guess, but why not give you control over the team and select the fighters you want to control. If people want just one it will play like usual. However, this requires a "universe" that makes and simulates events. EAUFC2 had that in a very reduced form, but they somehow scrapped that. Not sure why.Comment
