Re: UFC 5 closed beta

game is just getting ripped lol. many saying input lag is annoying as ever and that it doesn't feel like a new game.
Martial Mind def seems to be going down the shill road which is fine. I wish him success. i just hope the game bombs as it deserves to. i can't believe EA would put such little effort in AGAIN.Comment

Re: UFC 5 closed beta
Got the beta code and played yesterday and today. Deleted the beta already. Reasons why:
- Online play is insufferably laggy, inputs take ages to happen.
- Spamming is still the most effective method as a single punch essentially freezes you in place, so it's a game of whoever throws a punch first wins.
- The input lag makes it impossible to react to a strike, you always have to predict.
- The doctors stoppage thing is overdone. Any cut and half a round of extra punches and the fight's called off.
- Online career is a drag and a half, far too slow to allow you to upgrade your stats, even with the 2XP boost. At regular speed you'd probably have to fight about 15 times before you can upgrade your character.
- You also can't train in online career so it's essentially just the same as UFC4 online reskinned.
- The addition of those silly outfits mean your opponent can wear a mask and obscure exactly where you've cut someone. This is basically cheating imo, as you have to guess where the cut is.
- Beta specific: the lack of fight now is dumb. I hate fighting online (for all the reasons above) and I can't just go in and pick someone offline to fight. Yes there are those challenges but I don't just want to repeat challenges to play offline.
- There's no tutorial for some reason
- Overall, the game is far too close to UFC 4 for my liking.Comment

Re: UFC 5 closed beta
When it comes to UFC, I am definitely a casual. But, what I can tell you from my untrained eye is that the game is ridiculously beautiful. It definitely looks current/next gen. I just played my first match. I was Jared Cannonier and my opponent was Israel Adesanya. He caught me with a knee to the chin that knocked me out in the 1st round. Gonna try online next."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

Re: UFC 5 closed beta
since we've all been speaking of surveys so much.... why don't we survey the people who have played the closed beta on whether or not they like it and are satisfied with it as a new game? lol. maybe that'd tell EA something if it isn't clear already.Comment

Re: UFC 5 closed beta
I'm probably in the minority here, but I think the game feels really good. I think it's solid.
Not sure why my experience is so different, but the input lag I experienced in UFC 3 and 4 is almost entirely gone for me in UFC 5. It has never felt more responsive and crisp.
Striking is superior to any other MMA game ever released (though it certainly has flaws).
Grappling is also flawed, but it feels way more responsive and fluid compared to the past couple of EA titles. The new sub system is also way better than anything we've ever had in an MMA game before this.
Ground and pound feels way better than UFC 4, though I'm still not a fan of the entire system. It feels unnatural and still a little clunky. Makes no sense that a defender can slip one elbow and end up in full mount on top. At the same time, defender options are way too limited - they should be able to transition/pull you down. Auto pull-down sucks.
Visuals are fantastic (aside from some glitches with the camera, which I'm sure will be fixed).
My biggest issue with it at the moment is stamina. Even with CAFs that have terrible cardio stats, I can throw hundreds of strikes per round and still have over half my total stamina bar at the end of a 3 round fight.
If you try playing offline with the challenges in the fight week mode, you'll notice that those matches are set to the simulation game mode. I think it feels really good there.
Overall, is it similar to UFC 4? Sure. But it's no more similar to UFC 4 than UFC 4 was to UFC 3. I think there are way more differences in this iteration than in the last. It's not perfect, and it's not everything I want, but it's a step up, and I can see myself having a lot of fun with it.Comment

Re: UFC 5 closed beta
Online in quick match with roster fighters, stamina is insane. It barely drains at all. In online career with CAFs, it's a bit better, but that's literally only because most CAFs have bad cardio stats until upgraded.
I'm currently using a CAF with 2.5 star rated cardio, and I can still throw over 100 strikes every round and have a little more than half my stamina left at the end of a 3 round fight.Comment
