This has shown us... very little.

Hoping there's an option to fight with the replay lightning which looks way cooler. But of course there won't be.

I guess having sweat on the floor won't hurt, but as there won't be any effect on the gameplay, what's the point. I'm usually very big on immersive features, but this one isn't essential. The replays and entrances however are, and they do look pretty sweet.

I'll admit...the cinematic replas don't do it for me.

It completely takes me out of the experience. But maybe others like it.

Tbh I actually love the new cinematic replays. At first I was bit iffy on them but idk they grew on me I guess lol. I would love an option to switch to the broadcast replays though, that would be much appreciated for sure.

Yeah, would much prefer the broadcast-style replays myself

Glad I'm not the only one. Totally weird and don't like it.

As much as I've sort of defended them recently, it's stuff like this where you get the sense they won't just take the easy win.

Needs to be their own ideas, even if no one wanted it.

It's not super-immersive with the filter on it. But the camera angles and sounds have improved a lot. But dimming the commentator sounds (I think?) and putting a filter on it.

It's clear now that they're inspired by Mortal Kombat for a while now. They have exactly this type of replay. Better to embrace it than to wish they will revert to more realism like Undisputed did.

Yeah I'll get used to it over time.

I don't necessarily know if it's inspired by MK, but they wants to show off the Frostbite engine and lighting. They've done something similar with NHL 24 this year with goal celebrations. After a goal, it is a cinematic cut to a close up shot on the ice of the player celebrating. I'm not a fan of either, but seems like they feel this shows off the graphics better.

Yeah, not a fan of the cinematic replays. It's already old in NHL and will get old in this I feel. I want my presentation to match the broadcast as accurately as possible

The replays and walkouts are no more than skippable cutscenes that will wear off quickly. And the replays are worse to me because they don't resemble the quality of the gameplay at all. It's like the RTX ON meme, except that it isn't funny because the game looks bad.

EA once again trying their hardest to improve anything that isn't actual gameplay. It's almost as if they're doing it on purpose now. EA UFC 4 with the silly cosmetics, and EA UFC 5 with the cutscenes that no sane person would watch more than 10 times (walkouts anyway).

What I don't understand are two things:

1.) Why do the fighters STILL look like they are sliding all over the mat? Hopefully they'll 'feel' like they have some weight to them when playing the game, but I'm leaning towards doubt.

2.) I have never noticed one of the UFC 4 players online, during my abundance of reading, say they like the ground game. As far as gameplay goes, asides from everybody's dislike of the submission mini-games, the dislike for the ground game was the number one need for a change, and yet they had three years to completely overhaul it and appears that they didn't.

In my limited time with UFC 4 on Game Pass/EA Play, I thought it was a terrible game. Trying to be optimistic about 5, despite my demeanor above, but EA's track record is a farce.

They have no respect for the community. They will sit there and lie to our faces because they think we're dumb, like telling us in a deep dive that Stand and Bang mode is a new feature they just dropped. Or they'll even turn around an pin their laziness/lack of talent on the community too by telling us that their "metrics" indicate things like "people don't want a clinch and people aren't interested in full caf customization" when in fact....they're just incapable of making it work.

That said, we prove them right though with every $70-$100 we spend on the new release. Man I was psyched when EA got the license and I fanboy'd the crap outta EA and defended them against the haters. I was a fool.
