If you never played any UFC game, just take a month of EA PLAY and play EA UFC4. Why on earth would you purchase this one? You might not even like the gameplay...

I'm hoping this actually becomes a yearly release as this current version feels like an in-between one, more of a conversion to the next engine, which I assume was the main goal. But if they are making FN next, it might take more than one year. Hell... this one took 3 years.

You can even play 10 hrs of UFC 5 with EA Play. I only played an hour before deleting it though. Game is just too clunky and frankly not fun at all to me even as a big UFC fan. Would much rather play fight night champion or ufc undisputed.

The strange thing that I'm having trouble comprehending is the fact that people seem to be purposely ignoring this lol. I'll continue to beat the drum every chance I get until this is fixed, either in this release (which I doubt, unless the dev team can do mo cap after release) or a subsequent release. It took the Madden team nearly a decade to integrate physics back into the movement of their characters (after the disastrous transition from PS2 era to PS3) and it appears this team needs to be consistently reminded about this defect as well until someone comes onboard with the proper vision, or until a current dev corrects their thought process and galvanizes the team in the right direction. This plays like a generic handheld game and it is completely unacceptable for a company of this caliber.

I bought PS5 just for this game, and I am in awe over how not good it is.

I am even having lag when I play offline. How is that even possible?

Maybe the reviewer didn't know that everything they mentioned new about the ground game was available in the option change in UFC 4. The facial damage is cool but its not like I can work on my fighter between rounds or watch the cpu work on theirs so I can appreciate the damage. They tinkered with things in this game that didn't need touching and left untouched, all the things that should have been changed. Can't wait to see this for $19.99. I have some credits in my wallet that need using and I have nothing that needs purchasing.

You pretty much nailed it, especially when you mentioned that they tinkered with stuff they shouldn't have. I know it may seem like a minor detail to some, especially the more casual crowd, but it really left a bad taste in my mouth that they completely butchered the fighter introductions. If that was the only real issue with this game it would be easy for me to look past this, but the fighters all feel so generic, they all fight and move the same, there's not even one new fighter since UFC 4, the damage system that they hyped up is really just smoke and mirrors, it's still based off health events that disappear after a few seconds, no lasting injuries. Doctor stoppages are WAY too frequent, especially when fighting on sim mode with true 5 minute rounds. We still have the same KO animations as we've had in the last few games, just pure laziness. And why the F did they remove the ability to throw follow up strikes after a KO?? It's so jarring throwing a knockout punch or kick and your fighter just walks off, like since when does the ref not jump in there and stop the fight?

but the ground game is stale??

Whhhaaa??? I've had some absolutely amazing battles on the ground so far; both online and offline.

I think the ground upgrades is what makes this installment great.

                Just my 2 cents.
Hey do you believe that this game is a knockdown simulator.
2 takedown and your stamina is not taxed enough and you dont feel sluggish like you own the cardio game.
After 3 takedowns its still the same.

This game hardly feels like mma. Its no risk no fatigue no real damage to limp and be out of breath about. No real vulnerability. The comebacks in this game is lame. Feels cheesy.

I don't know if it's the development team who are incapable of doing what needs to be done, or if its the shot callers strong arming them with deaf, uneducated decision making.

Either way, we waited 3 years for a cut and paste. Not even a single new face on the roster. Now, they're even shortening up the iconic UFC introductions? The instant gratification generation thinks it takes too long to get to the fight? Well, you gave them the option to skip the intro. But, then you're also gonna cut the intro for people who want to see it? Straight up irrationally stupid decision making followed with corporate babble.

Gaming is a big deal these days. Cash cow. The UFC needs a GD video game liason that babysits EA so they don't produce another half azzed cut n' paste that makes the brand look awful.
