Unable to play on this video setting?

My friend is having problems with this. I had this problem too on my hdtv, but i checked the 720p box and it worked for me. The problem is he does not have an hd tv so it's automatically set to 480p, but it doesn't work. Any help?

Is it the PS3 demo DLed from the UK and attempting to play on a standard TV in NA?

I seriously doubt he will buy a new tv just to play UFC. Although I will mention that to him just to see how he reacts!
