You can also get some fighters through pre orders etc... I know there are two you get from a pre on Gamestop.

I have to think they are going to release fighters via DLC, ones that didnt make the cut, I cannot see why they wouldn't. I mean, Couture will be in there, among others.

Looking at the old UFC games it's probably the ring girls,refs,Buffer,Dana White and UFC Man,all of wich are already modeled for in game purposes (except UFC Man who they don't use anymore so probably isn't really there).

Well, I saw Fabiano da Silva in the IGN Career Mode video, so, I guess that might count towards the 96?

That's a big roster, and I believe we'll see more DLC besides the preorder fighters and I think we'll have some unlockables too. I just pre-ordered the game @ Gamestop yesterday and paid the whole thing off. Can't wait for this one to drop. Only 14 days.

The final number of playable characters in "UFC 2009 Undisputed" has also been a hot topic with gamers and fans waiting for the May 19 release of the heavily anticipated game.

Published advertisements for an upcoming strategy guide produced independently by BradyGames have advertised "complete stats, bios, and strategic analysis" on "all 96 fighters." THQ insisted the final game will have 82 playable fighters, and three bonus playable "UFC-oriented personalities" with the previously reported inclusion of "Mask," "Punkass" and "Skyscrape" from the TapouT crew.

The "UFC 2009 Undisputed" producer insisted he had no idea where BradyGames came up with the idea that 96 characters would be available for gameplay.

"I saw that (advertisement), too," Dravinski said. "I don't know what that's all about. That might be including the (THQ created, lower-tier) guys we had in career mode. They might have double-counted the guys that can switch weight classes. I don't know."

Additional previously published reports credited UFC President Dana White with promising MMA pioneer Royce Gracie as a character in the game. Dravinski deemed that to also be incorrect.

"[White] was incorrect in that assessment," Dravinski said.

Randy Coutoure will never be in the game. He refuses to be in video games and didn't sign his likeness rights away. So therefore they can't legally put him in the game without his consent.

I thought I read an article last month that when Randy re-did his contract with the UFC for the Brock fight it had details in it for the video game. Ill try and hunt it down, mmamania or mm junkie. However it would have been to late for this game, maybe the next.


Ah here is something I found on it from Sept '08

"As part of the settlement, the UFC gained the rights to Couture's image for its video game. It never had that before."

Sept 08 ???????? Then hell he should be on the damn cover for this game then. I don't know, Randy has always been kind of flaky and flip flops a lot, so maybe he threatened to take them to court over his image or something.

I gurantee if he was on the cover and was well known to be in, everybody and their moms would be standing at the stores at midnight waiting to buy the game.

I dont think that including Courture would effect sales one way or the other. Most Couture fans are UFC fans and they are planning to buy the game anyway. I think people would be less liely to buy the game if Chuck, Silva or GSP werent in the game then Couture
