Alexander Emelianenko has announced his retirement from MMA. I wish he would've been able to fight over here in the U.S. because he was a lot of fun to watch.
Also, Eddie Alvarez has been offered a UFC contract. Bellator has a 2 week matching period.Last edited by Pappy Knuckles; 12-19-2012, 10:05 AM.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
I think Bellator is going to match which sucks for Eddie. The UFC refused to overpay for Alvarez like they did for Lombard and Bellator now has Viacom's full financial power behind them. I bet you Bellator matches and then puts him in an immediate rematch with Chandler (if he beats Hawn).Comment

Re: MMA-Heavyweight Championship Lineage
According to this Espn MMA article, Alistar Overeem is the Heavyweight champ. An interesting read and look back at some history.

Re: MMA-Heavyweight Championship Lineage
Ive read that before. Thats the only lineal belt that isnt in line with the current MMA champion. Whats funny is Silva wasnt the lineal champion until he beat Sonnen the first time. Sonnen was the champ because he beat Nate Marquardt and is technically a 2 time lineal MW champion.New York Giants (8 NFL Championships-4 Superbowls )

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
The Eddie Alverez drama is getting interesting. Bellator matched the offer the UFC made but it looks like Eddie doesnt want to fight for Bellator anymore. Dana was quoted as saying that "It will get ugly" last week hinting that he may consider suing or supporting Eddie if he sues to get out of his Bellator contract.
For those that dont know, Bellator's contracts are some of the worst in the sport. The UFC, Bellator, Strikeforce and M-1 all have contracts that have championship clauses (meaning they have the right to match any contract offered to one of their champions) but Bellator has matching language in the contracts of all its major fighters (champions or not).
Its clear Eddie wants to leave because the only big fight Bellator has for him is a potential rematch against Michael Chandler. In the UFC he's looking at huge fights against guis like Melendez, Miller, Edgar, Maynard etc. Interested to see how this turns out.Comment
