Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Yeah maybe using "full weight class" as an example was dumb. What I meant to ask was, basically, Oliveira missing weight by 5.5 pounds for tonight made me think of Miller missing by like 24 pounds or whatever it was in that fight a little while back. I was wondering what the most lbs a fighter has missed weight by is in the UFC, or is there even a site that would track that sort of thing"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Pretty sure Rumble weighed in like 12 or 13 pounds overweight way back when he fought Vitor. I think that one is the most in the UFC.
It sticks out because they agreed to the right but he had to be weighed again on the fight night saying they wouldn't fight if he weighed over 205 on that night.badComment

First article I read of his turned me into a fan. http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2015/12/2...-1-josh-samman
I was very impressed with his writing and various articles. Dude was very talented outside of his specialty. (Fighting)

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Maybe this is lame bias or just illogical and unfair thinking on my part by I have a harder time feeling bad for Khabid than I do Aldo.
I guess there are similarities in their gripes but IMO Khabib has much less ground to stand on than Aldo, and that might not even be saying very much.
Bottom line is it is gonna be one of those deals where whoever Conor fights going forward there is gonna be someone pissed it wasn't them who hit the lotto."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Khabib is full of it too. His biggest win is over Dos Anjos two and a half years ago. Did he deserve a shot back then? Sure. But it's hard to demand a shot when ur most recent win is over Darrell Horcher.
If Conor wins, I doubt he even fights Khabib. He will likely fight Diaz at 155.

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
I am glad Conor is saying "**** Nevada."
The whole "you gotta do a commercial for us" thing tipped the scale (for me at least) from "Harsh but kinda understandable" to "uh what?" Who do these guys think they are? I mean 150k is a crap ton of money by itself. I don't care what percentage of the overall payout it was, by itself, in any measurement, it is a lot of money.
These NSAC guys seem to love to flex. If I were Conor I would be like "Thanks, but no thanks" and just never fight there again. I'd also put them on blast for their ridiculous stipulations. I'd be going "Surprised, Mfers?" on those dorks.
Like Dana said, he can fight anywhere."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
So I understand why Pena may be frustrated but honestly I have to believe deep down everyone knew that Ronda would get a title shot when she came back. If fighters in that division hadn't come to terms with that long ago then I think that is kind of on them. Of course they were gonna make that fight no matter who held the belt. Ronda is easily one of the top 3 most famous fighters of all time, she considered one of the most dominant forces in the game before her loss, and that loss is/was her first (she's still just coming off it). Pena has a nice resume but she has not out-earned Ronda yet, IMO.
Honestly, I would love to see Pena/Nunes but I think Rousey/Nunes is the right call on many levels (business level, sport level, etc). Pena, in her interview yesterday, closed it by saying something like "I'm a prize fighter, I fight for money. I'll fight for whoever pays me the most." Well I doubt anyone is gonna pay her more than the UFC currently does so why not be on the horn clamoring for a fight with Bullet Valentina at a date as close to 207 as possible so she can be in shape and ready if someone gets hurt, or have a chance at an official #1 contenders match with Bullet.
Honestly Pena has always bugged me. From basically the first moment I saw her on TUF I just felt she exudes this very "Cringe" demeanor. That being said she is tough as hell and a dangerous fighter, world class for sure and one of the top at that division by any standard. I get it. I think there are some divisions where contenders are starting to out-grow the pace of championship fights and it may be in their best interest to just go after the next biggest fight possible to put an exclamation on their case.
I find it slightly ironic that she calls Ronda a spoiled brat, but then basically stomps her feet and says "what about me."Last edited by The JareBear; 10-13-2016, 05:48 AM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Yea I'm surprised that people didn't think that Ronda was getting the title shot right when she came back. I mean she's the best draw in women's mma history. She is the main reason that the UFC first got into women's mma. And she is easily the most dominant fighter in that division. She went what 3 straight years holding that title before the loss to Holm? And dominated every woman she came up against before Holm.

Pick a former champion who is the second biggest draw in the UFC, who defended the title 6 times before losing and who Nunes wants to fight.
or
Pick a former TUF winner who's won four fights in a row but isnt a draw and no one other than the hardcore fans know who she is.
Also if Pena had better luck and made smarter decisions she wouldve likely recieved a title shot. She blew out her knee and missed almost 2 years. She then got in a bar fight which lead to an charge (that was later dropped) but the shelved her for 6 mos.
Plus this **** will likely work out for her. If Ronda wins, she likely fights Pena next (I dont ever think Ronda will face Cyborg). If Nunes wins, she's beat the two most well known women fighters in the UFC back to back and she likely fights Pena next.
Finally, I wish the UFC was a little more aggressive in hitting back against these fighters who say "I'm leaving the UFC" when they are under contract. Pena has 3 more fights on her contract. She cant go anywhere and she knows it.Comment
