One of the dumbest decisions in the history of the UFC. Bellator needs named talent and the UFC just gave them a ton. Guys like Etim and Sass are automatically big name future opponents for Chandler. Same goes for Vlad in the LHW division.
I wont even get started on Fitch. He was a top 5 WW before a year and a half ago. Jesus this is dumb.Comment

I think 100 is a little unrealistic but I think we are seeing the effects of the UFC Health Insurance program. The fact is they have almost double the divisions they had three years ago and employ fighters who whether they are fighting or not, the UFC has to pay a monthly premium for every one of those fighters. Thats an added expense that the UFC never had to deal with before.
If I'm Viacom/Bellator, I'm backing up the Brinks truck and signing a bunch of those guys. Fitch, Volkmann, Sass, Mills, Etim and Vlad. What Bellator needs is depth and while Bellator doesnt want to sign UFC "rejects". You need name guys to establish your champs.Comment

Only problem I have is the Janitor. All of his fights are quick and brutal and gatekeepers are needed.
No problem at all with Fitch and even though I think Dana is an absolute buffoon, I understand why he cut him.Comment

Yes. A washed up gatekeeper that provides quick and entertaining fights for the casual fan. He has a name and allows fighters that the UFC believes in to build up a natural progression. They can easily get two more fights out of him before he should have been cut.
Fitch hasn't finished anyone since the Bush administration and the only fights he has had that are entertaining to the common fan were only because his opponent made it so. Dana and the UFC brass have made more mistakes than hits, but this isn't one of them. The roster and product needs massive fat trimming. Guys like Fitch hurt the sport more than they help.Comment

I see what Dos_Santos is saying. You arent a gatekeeper if you beat all of the fighters trying to pass him over. Fitch isnt an exciting fighter and doesnt finish fights but is damn near impossible to finish (except for Hendricks). I'm not a fan of cutting a guy who is 13-3-1 in the UFC and headlined 2 PPVs though. He deserved one more fight.Comment
