Well of course they only going to use the fights that all the recent UFC fans know of. I say about 90% of the people who will buy this game, just started following the UFC when The Ultimate Fighter seasons started.

So therefore they will know nothing about the following:

Royce Gracie & Ken Shamrock wars

Guy Mezger vs Tito Ortiz wars

Pedro Rizzo vs Randy Coutoure wars

Maurice Smith vs Randy Coutoure wars

    Maurice Smith vs Mark Coleman

    BJ Penn vs Cano wars

    Jens Pulver vs Cano wars

    Kevin Randleman vs Bas Ratten

    Matt Serra vs Shonie Carter

    Nick Diaz vs Robbie Lawler

    Frank Shamrock vs Tito Ortiz

    Randy Coutour vs Tito Ortiz

It's probably more a case of them using fights that involve fighters they have the licensings rights for.

That could be the case too. It's a shame though, because all of the UFC new comers just don't know of all the great fights that happened during the 1990s of the UFC.

It's almost certainly the reason. That's why you don't see a fight like Couture vs. Sylvia in the game. That fight was a lot more 'classic' than Penn vs. Stevenson, and it's a fight that all modern UFC fans would be aware of, but because they don't have the rights to Couture, they can't put his likeness in the game.

But if the game is as successful as it looks like it could be, I think there would be a good possibility of them spending some extra cash for some of those UFC vets and put them in as unlockable fighters, in which case then they'd be able to showcase some of the old school classic fights.

If it is strictly off of rights......then how come Sherk vs Florian not in the classic fights ? Or the Huerta vs Edgar fight ? Or Fitch vs GSP ?

Some of these fights not in the top 10 classics IMO:

            Karo vs Sanchez
            Serra vs GSP

The fighters they can use are determined by the licensing rights they have. The fights involving those fighters that they pick, that's probably some combination of the developer's judgement and the UFC's judgement regarding which fights involving those fighters were classic.

I'm guessing they were with GSP vs. Serra instead of the Fitch fight because that Serra win was just such an unexpected upset. GSP's dismantling of Fitch may have been more impressive, but that first Serra fight is probably more memorable just because of the upset involved.

It'd certainly be nice to have a Roger Huerta fight in there. The ideal one would be his fight against Leonard Garcia, but he's in the WEC now and therefore not in the game. Since the UFC owns the WEC, maybe in the future they'll get the rights to put the WEC fighters in the game. That'd be awesome.

And man, that Sanchez/Parisyan fight was awesome. That one certainly deserves a classic fight spot.

Liddell vs Rampage UFC 71? Thats a classic fight? It was over before you blinked. I know the hype and anticipation was huge but shouldn't a classic fight go more than 45 secs?

Can't say any of those do anything for me - but on the other hand, I don't think I care. I guess I don't see the point in "classic fights" when all I have to do is pick two fighters who I thought had a classic fight, and play it out. I mean - usually when there's a "classic" mode, it sets the score to something specific (like 1 minute left, 3 points down, 0 time outs, on your own 4 yard line), or at least adds players you wouldn't play with for exhibition or season. In this case, it just kind of seems pointless because there's nothing different about it selecting two fighters, and you just selecting those two fighters.

I think the classic fights in the game have the pre-fight hype videos. You know, like when they have the two guys talking about the other fighter, etc. That's what makes it different than just a normal exhibition. I think it'll be cool for people that aren't that familiar with the UFC, give them a chance to see some of the fighters' personalities.

Man I really wish there was some Royce Gracie in there.

It has vids and I think you have to win the same way as the real fighter did but not sure on that one.

                        Didn't anyone post the video?
