A Fedor CAF and a few random fights

The video quality leaves a lot to be desired, but we'll take what we can get.

That Fedor is surprisingly decent. The guy that made it said it can probably be done a lot better, the CAF mode is very good in his opinion.

He's also got a couple other videos of fights there. The Anderson Silva one is nice for seeing some of his signature strikes. And the Arlovski/Crocop one has a great KO.

That Fedor's not too bad. They'll definitely need a much bigger selection of nicknames for the next one.

I didn't know where to put this but it looks like Career mode is gonna be a bit of a let-down.
      From the UFC forum..

he has the game he is form another forum
I'm the Lightweight champ and have successfully defended my title at least 7 times now. All my title defenses have come against: BJ Penn twice, Kenny Florian twice, Tyson Griffin once, Sean Sherk once, and Roger Huerta once. Take note, I defeated Huerta for the title.
My option for my next title defense is:
Tyson Griffin, Kenny Florian or BJ Penn...
Thus, I'm stuck repeating every match over and over again from year 4 till year 7 basically. I bet I'll be facing BJ Penn at least 3-4 more times before I retire.
The career mode is fun... don't get me wrong... but they need a lot more depth on the simulation, CPU, and statistical side. They needed to have unlockable fighters in the career mode where they get "signed" by the UFC and challenge for the title. Instead, the top 10 basically stays the same and the title matches are repeated over and over again in the 7 year span.
It would've been awesome to see fighters move up and down weight too. I would've love to move up to WW and face the champ (who is Marcus Davis for the past 2 years, GSP hasn't been in the top 5 since he lost his title in year 1).

I'm not sure what people are expecting from a career mode.

Pride FC didn't even have one. It just had a tournament that me and my buddies played over and over. FNR3 had a career mode, but it pretty much consisted of doing some mini-games in between fights involving mostly the same fighters while occasionally watching a cutscene where your "rival" punches you in the face at a weign-in.

The 'career' modes in Madden, NCAA, NHL 09, all of those are very bare bones, even in comparison to Undisputed's.

The career mode in the UFC game seems...fine. And I'm completely okay with that, because I wasn't expecting some revolutionary thing on their first attempt. There's certainly a lot of room for improvement, but on the flip side, the sparring-to-train-skills and going to different camps and having to perform well to learn new techniques, those two things are better than pretty much anything I've seen in a career mode in a similar sort of game.

I just think the last line is the most depressing..

In what sense? Personally, because you're a big fan of GSP, or because you think it's an indication of the game being messed up?

Re: A Fedor CAF and a few random fights

Who knows maybe they have injuries in career mode and some of them can last for the rest of your career. Which would be a cool feature to have.

Overall, it just like any season mode of a sports game. In The Show I face the same 3 teams in the playoffs every year. In NBA 2K9 I see the same group of teams in the playoffs all the time. And I am always going up against the Lakers in the finals.

In FIFA, in the premeire league I always battle it out with Manchester United for the cup. Or in the Spanish Premeria I am always battling it out with Barcelona for the cup.

So really I am not surprised.

I typed up some long winded BS, but forget it the masses are content with mediocrity so be it.Because other games couldn't do it why should I think maybe some (Any) company could. Maybe when the PS4 drops sigh.

I don't think anyone here is content with mediocrity. It's more that a number of us just aren't gonna get bent out of shape if something isn't perfect.

I'll certainly voice complaints and expect a better career mode next year, but I also have no desire to make the perfect the enemy of the good.

I'm not bent out of shape over it. It's business by year 4 we will see the best CAF and career mode that they can make(Just in time for a new system to repeat the cycle) why give us what we want when they can soak us for years in dribs and drabs of things we want.

I guess I am getting worn out on the whole video game marketing system. Wait until next year then the next and so on.

Re: A Fedor CAF and a few random fights

That is just how the industry is. I have been playing videogames for 26 years now. And every generation there are peaks and valleys.

I remember for years, nobody thought basketball videogames could get any better then Live 95. Then 2k2 game came out and people said wow. Then we had to wait 4 years before we were shocked again with 2k6. Then came 2k8 and people thought wow, I know they can't top this, then came 2k9.

It was the same way for Madden and NCAA football games. Last year versions were leaps and bounds over their pass 6 versions. The more developers get use to it, the quicker the improvement time will be.

So I doubt it will take a whole new generation before they improve on this game. Once you get the foundation solid, stuff like career mode and CAF is very easy to fix.

If this was the fourth version of this game I would agree with you but as the first in the series I think you should lower your expectations a bit.

So wanting the game to at least mimic real life scheduling is high expectations?
You are right fighting the same 3 guys up to 10 times can be like when Chuck and Tito fought their historic 10 fights over a 3 year span..Oh wait that never happened.

I just think that you don't have a very good understanding of the work that goes into making a videogame. Companies don't hold back options so they can add them later, they hold back because they need to build the foundation first. If you don't like how it works maybe you have the wrong hobby. To me they got the gameplay right and that's the most important thing. I'd rather fight the same guy 10 times in a 3-year span with good gameplay rather than 10 guys in a 3-year span with mediocre gameplay. To each his own though.
