Lol that sounds like my younger brother, he refuses to read instructions too.

Ok really you need your sub offense to be at least in the 70s, preferably in the 8os or higher to submit a person that isn't a scrub.

Technically yeah you can pull off the basic subs with it in the 60s, but that opponent has to be really gassed though and weak themselves (referring to their sub defense rating)

Also, my guy has low strength. I'm working more on cardio and speed. Do I need strength to submit an opponent?

Is that factoring into why I can't submit anyone or am I just doing it at the wrong time/not good enough?

Sub offense of 50 is way too low, you will only be able to pull off the basic of the basics of subs, like a kimura. And yes strength does play a role in it as well. Because the stronger you are, the more control you will have on the opponent when you trying to go for the sub.

Because if you have low strength, they will buck you off with ease or just sweep you.

To cancel a submission, click L3. Can do it anytime. Works wonders when you trying to fake somebody out. Go for a sub, they react, you cancel and go for a different type of sub.
