    Wrestlers and their garbage tactic

I'm getting sick of watching these wrestlers covering their opponents mouth and keeping their hands all over the face. This is definitely my biggest pet peeve in MMA.

I don't see a problem with it.A choke is trying to stop a person breathing, putting my hand on your face is me trying to stop you from breathing.

      Old school tactics FTW!

But yeah, it is a bit corny. Effective, but corny.

How about if they made a rule where you had to do a little dance while you did it?

I've got no problem with it at all but I am not exactly bias since I'm a big fan of Hendo.

Lol, I might be down with it more if dancing was involved. I know it's not against the rules, it just seems lame to me. Half the time their fingers are in the dudes eyes and it just seems like a weak way to restrict someone's air. I'm weird like that though, I think footstomps are wack too.

Weak is one thing, but think about getting smashed into the face or getting all the little bones in your foot stomped over and over. It is ALL painful to a degree but most of them are tactics to get them to change positions.

For instance, if someone is just laying on you with a lay and pray technique, you would try and punch them in the face to soften them up and get them to try and change positions.

Same thing with foot stomps, They have their back to the cage, have their feet positioned where it is tough to get a take down. So slam a heel on the top of a foot a few times and he might be more likely to move that foot some and give you some room to make a take down.

Mouth over the face is more of a distracting technique. Used to get them thinking about the hand and force them to do something about it. Then boom make a pass when their mind is not on the other 5 things you are trying to do.

I think in FIGHTING, anything is fair. I tend to favor more of the Pride like rules where kneeing a man when he is down or kicking them in the face when down is all legal. Reason UFC took it away is for the purpose of preventing outrage of violence and to try and limit death type blows from unprotected fighters.

But that is just me

                  Good points, Phobia.

I can understand why covering the mouth is a sound strategy, it's just one of those things that annoys me to watch. However, I would definitely like to see foot stomps removed from MMA though. It's a violent sport, but the intent of MMA isn't to necessarily injure your opponent. To me, stomps to the foot are somewhat similar to small joint manipulation. There are a lot of small bones in your foot, and breaking them can really put someone out of action for a while. The same can be said for a submission, but there's skill involved with that. Any fool can stomp on someone's foot.

I do agree with foot stomps. It is close to the small joint manipulation. The arm, leg, shoulder can take ALOT more force on submissions than the small bones in the foot. You don't see a ton of foot stomps but I agree they could be really costly for fighters.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the mouth covering either. It just seems a little dirty. But, since it's allowed, I don't necessarily have a problem with it. I'm just saying if it was me, it wouldn't be something I would do to my opponent.

At the end of the day, MMA is a brutal sport no matter what. We're talking about a sport where it's legal to restrict the most vital element of life, oxygen. Honestly, I don't see a problem with nut shots, hair pulling, and covering the mouth when you really look at what the sport is to begin with. If you can restrict air, I don't see how anything else is considered illegal. What's wrong with gouging out a persons eyeballs? It's only vision he loses. At least he can still live without eyes. You can't live without air.

The real sport; I have no problems with either tactics. The foot stomp is very effective in getting the take down. 2 feet on the ground is more stable than 1, get them to move one and then sweep the other.
