Yea. He didn't have anything for him on the ground. And GSP made a point to use his reach and stay out of range of Alves little T-Rex arms.

Time for GSP to go up a weight class perhaps?

I thought coming into this fight that if GSP dominated Alves, I'd have to consider him the best pound-for-pound in the world. And he dominated Alves. I still really respect Fedor, and he's certainly a close second in my mind, but GSP has just moved ahead of him on the strength of his dominating victories over the best welterweights in the world right now.

Looking to see how much Mir has improved. But, I'm gonna say Brock Lesnar by ground and pound.. The guy is just so big and fast. Idk man idk.

          A. Silva would beat GSP IMO. Just a bad matchup for GSP

            This.

But yeah, I think it's time for GSP to move to 185.

It's not that easy. BJ Penn's BJJ is world class and GSP shredded that guard like a hot knife through butter.

It's gonna take absolutely amazing BJJ *something like Demian Maia* (or the most godlike take down defense on the planet) with absolutely fantastic stand up with a reach equal to GSP to beat him.

^ Plus a pulled groin. Tremendous heart GSP has.

I never understood the logic that he should move up in weight just because he's beating up everybody. So it's better for him to go up to 185 and get beat up by Anderson Silva? He should just keep dominating his weight class.

Pretty solid fight, just shows GSPs technical dominance and stamina. My wife even watched her first UFC fight, gave me a warm feeling inside.

I agree. Alves is almost the exact prototype of the guy that could beat St. Pierre. Big, strong, good takedown defense, tremendous striking. And he got absolutely beat up.

I just don't see St. Pierre losing for a while. There's always a chance someone catches him with a fluky punch, like Serra did with a hook to the back of the head in their first fight, but other than that, I mean, no one's really touched the guy in over three years, ever since BJ beat him up in the first round of their first fight.
