Its too bad the UFC and its fans are probably going to miss out on Fedor ever fighting in the UFC on the main stage. He's keeping Affliction alive based on his name alone and a fight with him and Lesnar/Mir would set a bunch of sales records, easily.

Re: What are your thoughts on the Fedor Chant?
The only reason people want to or would (they won't) do this is because they somehow think they are more "hardcore" fans. The people who think this is awesome need to feel that they are smarter and know infinitely more about MMA than the casual fan. Pretty much MMA snobs is what they are.The line must be drawn HERE! This far, no further!Comment

Re: What are your thoughts on the Fedor Chant?
That's actually not true at all, and one of the big reasons why Dana hasn't done the deal. By far, the people most interested in Fedor in the UFC are people who already watch the UFC. Sure, the numbers for his debut would go up a little bit as those core MMA fans make sure to tune in, but Fedor just doesn't have the draw yet among casual or non MMA fans to think bringing him in would be a big payday.
For better or worse, bringing in Brock Lesnar did more to expand the UFC's reach than bringing in Fedor would.
2. If you are correct, in that he wouldn't do that well ratings wise, well then this stupid chant thing actually now has a purpose.. to get people watching to ask themselves: "who the f is Faydoor?"
Look it's disrespectful but I don't mind them doing it. Who gives a ****?? As fans I'm sure we can all agree that we want him in the best league in the world, hopefully this immature movement can get both sides to come closer to an agreement.
I think we can all also agree that both sides are being ******** in this.Comment

I dont agree with that. He's made it pretty clear he wants a non-exclusive, guaranteed contract, that would let him participate in combat sambo and I dont think he's worth that. Obviously neither does Zuffa.Comment

Re: What are your thoughts on the Fedor Chant?
So you think an extra couple million people who have never heard of Fedor are suddenly going to shell out 45 bucks to see him fight? The guy cant even come close to selling out the Honda center.
People at or buying the PPV probably already know who he is. To do historic ratings they have to bring in NEW fans. A ****load of new fans. I would bet good money that atleast 90% of the people who bought the Affliction shows to see Fedor also buy most UFC shows.

I for one don't think bringing Fedor in would do historic numbers, I realize my previous post may have made it seem like I think that.. I really meant to disagree with the notion that Fedor wouldn't do as well as Mir/Lesnar. The person I quoted made it seem like a Fedor fight wouldn't draw.
As far as Fedor being the one mucking up the chance to fight in the UFC, well I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.Comment

Re: What are your thoughts on the Fedor Chant?
But he wouldn't be anything special, because the people he draws are the people already buying PPVs. He doesn't have the mainstream appeal that would cause a casual fan, who normally doesn't buy a PPV, to suddenly buy one. I don't think that point should be in any dispute, at all.Comment

Re: What are your thoughts on the Fedor Chant?
Let's not forget that you'd have a chance to market the fight as well. People aren't just going to see the fight card and say whether they will or will not watch it.
Basically, you've got a chance to put together an ad campaign to run on Spike and wherever else that can easily explain the draw of Fedor in a few seconds.

Re: What are your thoughts on the Fedor Chant?
Basically in the end, as juvenile as the premise of this was, it's actually a good thing for fans.
With this movement, you had the press asking more and more questions about Fedor and the UFC.. as seen in the post fight press conference with Dana.
Like I said, it's probably disrespectful, but who cares.. we all want to see this thing happen.Comment

Re: What are your thoughts on the Fedor Chant?
I'm thinking there's a good chance it gets done, also. I'm guessing Dana really feels like he's got the guy to beat Fedor now, so he'll be a bit more willing to give in on a few of the contractual snags that have kept Fedor out so far.Comment

Re: What are your thoughts on the Fedor Chant?
Yeah, I've been saying for a while now that Dana wasn't looking for a Couture/Fedor fight, he was looking for a Fedor/Lesnar fight. I'm thinking that major announcement he was talking about a month ago is Fedor coming to the UFC. It makes sense that he was hoping to announce it but probably can't until the Affliction card is over. We'll see.PSN: ScoopBrady

Re: What are your thoughts on the Fedor Chant?
Fedor is what? 30-1-1. And I agree hes prob the best HW in the world from that dominating record standpoint. But face it, the guy is not fighting the best competition in the world. He got Tim Sylvia and Arlovski, yeah. Two guys that are past their prime. Dana wants to sign this guy badly. Fedor is the reason hes no in the UFC.
Me like anyone else would love to see Brock vs Fedor. Id still pull for Brock tho. Brocks ability to just maul someone is the kicker. Hes got you down and on laying on top of you before you know it. People cant throw him around, nor can they land solid punches without paying a price. Brocks arms are huge and long. But if there is one person out there that could weather Brocks storm, its Fedor. Lets hope after this last affliction fight that he signs with UFC. So morons wont be chanting his name at UFC events like Dana White doesnt want to sign him or something.Comment
