Rickson Gracie: "It Would Take Me Longer To Submit Fedor Than Lesnar"

Ringside Intel delivers the latest and greatest MMA coverage. Delivering the freshest insights, top rankings, expert opinions, upcoming fights, and more.

Fifty year old eighth degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Rickson Gracie has seen his fair share of controversy following his last professional fight in May of 2000.

The mythical submission specialist has claimed to possess a fighting record somewhere in the range of 400-0.

Rickson caught quite a bit of backlash following comments made to Tokyo Sports in which he stated that heavyweight king Fedor Emelianenko had “so-so” technical ability.

The native of Brazil recently revealed to The Rio de Janeiro Times that he feels confident that he would come out on top of a match-up between himself and Brock Lesnar or Fedor, regardless of his age or nine year layoff.

However, Rickson does admit that it would likely take him a little bit longer to submit “The Last Emperor”.

“[Brock Lesnar] is impressive as an athlete, but he has holes in his game like anybody else,” said Gracie. “Technically, he is not as good as Fedor.

“It would take me longer to submit Fedor than it would him

“I am not worried about his abilities. Whether he punches at me on the ground or standing, it is only a matter of time. In some ways, it is easier if he tries to punch at me standing. All the simpler to take him down. It ends in an armbar or a strangle regardless”

You made a new thread about someone irrelevant putting down a UFC fighter? I'm shocked.

        For Serial...

Royce was great and all - but he fought at a time when it wasn't MIXED martial arts in the way it was now. Back then, people knew one art, MAYBE two if they were good - and Royce just happened to have the best at his art... It was only mixed in the sense that all these martial arts were being thrown into the ring and put up against each other.

It's completely different now. Guys aren't just big - they actually know how to fight and how the various arts work. That's why Royce got absolutely worked when he fought Hughes. He wasn't fighting some wrestler like he did back in the day; he was fighting an MMA fighter who knows his stuff.

These guys are holding onto the past.

Crazy Tim Credeur on Rickson Gracie........

I am no great anything. As a purple I heard all the bull**** about Rickson and I thought as many on my Team ( What the F$%* ).
How good can a guy really be. Coming from the Carlson Gracie Team I had wrestled with the best and I knew what the damn deal
was. I was smoking everyone in tournaments as a purple back then and I figuered of course I would get worked but
I was pretty legit and it could not have been that bad if I rolled with Rickson.
I mean what could he possibly do that I had not seen. I got a private, I waited about 2 months for it.

I got so ****ed up when we finally rolled I questioned everything and I mean everything that I had ever learned or thought
          about Jiu-Jitsu.
I am a Black Belt today under World Champion Rodrigo Medeiros ( Carlson Gracie / BJJ Revolution Team ) I fight regularly in
MMA and I have trained with any and everyone you could imagine.

          Rickson is ****ING FOR REAL.
THERE IS NO MYSTIC, LEGEND OR MYSTERY. HE IS JUST A ****ING REAL LIVE JIU-JITSU WAR MACHINE MONSTER THAT BRINGS GAME YOU
CANNOT COMPREHEND. UNLESS YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED IT YOU WILL NEVER KNOW AND MANY DON'T EVEN HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO KNOW HOW BAD
HE IS WHEN THE SESSION IS GOING DOWN BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT EVEN GOOD ENOUGH TO RECOGNIZE THE DOMINANCE THAT IS TAKING PLACE.

Check me out on OTM or Sherdog. I am legit and this mother****er is off the ****ing charts. What Paulo said doesn't surprise
          me in the least.
I don't mean to rant and I jock ride no man ever. I rarely ever post on this website or any other. I am just dropping a peice
of knowledge that I possess so the masses know that my experience was felt and my life was changed by a guy that felt
          inhuman to roll with.

          Tim Credeur

I'm not posting that because i think Rickson would have a chance against either Brock or Fedor. I'm just posting it so people can read it.

I have trouble believing anyone could put Lesnar in an arm bar. Those arms are just enormous and so powerful. I feel like he might be able to keep his opponent from straitening out the arm. Maybe I'm wrong, I dunno.

fighting either man would put his life in danger. They'd plow right through him like he was nothing.

You need to watch Bob Sapp vs. Nogueira.

                  Ron Waterman vs Roger Gracie.

                  Waterman weighs in at a ripped 6'3 274lbs. Roger is a lanky 6'4 220lbs.

the fact that bob sapp will tapout if you even think about submitting him, combined with the fact that he gasses out under a minute into fights, makes him a bad example for this comparison

Rickson is no joke. Obviously you can't size him up against either guy as there's too much of an age gap, but, I think if either were to just straight up grapple against Rickson right now that he could very well tap both guys.
