Re: So who is going to Philly for 101?
I don't believe I've been to any of those places, but I have heard enough things.
- Finnegan's Wake is better than your average Irish pub. It's not exceptional, but it's a pretty good experience overall.
- I've never heard of the Buckhead Saloon. Online reviews look quite mixed.
- I'm ashamed to say I've never been to Cheerleaders, although by most accounts it's the best in the city.
- I've heard terrible things about the Denim Lounge. It's expensive and as such, it draws a certain type of crowd. Expect high prices, lousy service, and fake people. Not my scene. The after party sounds awesome, but I suspect this might be a case of style before substance.
- One of my buddies was raving about some place he went to on the river on Friday night. This might be the one; I'll check with him. This place looks freaking incredible, and the party should be great. And a two hour open bar? Are you kidding me? I think this will be the place to be.Last edited by TheLetterZ; 08-03-2009, 10:02 PM.Comment

Are these places around the Wachovia Center. The only thing that sucks is most of those parties end around 2. If the event runs late (1am) we wont be able to make most of them.Comment

Yeah thats what I heard too. I'm really hoping the guys from Vandal come through and hook us up with a good option after the fights. I'm going to text this dude Thurs or Fri just to plant the seed. Hopefully he remembers me.Comment

Yeah, follow up with the Vandal guy.
No, my buddy was talking about a different joint. The Deck does look great, although transportation would be a problem. It should be an easy drive there from the Wachovia Center, but there's no public transportation so if you plan on drinking, well, I don't know what to tell you. That's one expensive cab ride.
Are you guys driving back afterward, or staying in the city somewhere?Comment

We're going to AC early Saturday for some poker and then driving to AC before the prelims. We got a room at the Econolodge. I know it sucks there, but we don't plan on spending much time in the room. As soon as we wake up Sunday, we're going back to AC for the day.Comment

Econolodge is a good call, depending on where it is. How many people are in your crew?
Not sure how much AC experience you have, but for poker, I highly recommend Harrah's and Bally's.Comment

We're going to Showboat because they have small tournys throughout the day. Figure we can get one in before we head to Philly.Comment

Showboat does have some very good small tournaments, but I can't spend more than an hour in that place without wanting to kill myself.Comment

My dad's boss gave him the Box Seats for Saturday, So me and my entire football team is going!!!!!!"Okay, here's the story. I come from the gutter. I know that. I got no education... but that's okay. I know the street, and I'm making all the right connections. With the right woman, there's no stopping me. I could go right to the top."
