Thales Leites Released from UFC
LOL, so much for Dana's vote of confidence in Leites after the last PPV when he was asked point blank about releasing him and he scoffed at the idea, guess that was just posturing on his part since he ended up releasing him today according to mmaweekly.com. I cant say he will be missed as I didnt see him fight often and when I did I was left less then impressed, Im sure he will somehow find his way into Strikeforce and will be fighting Fedor soon Im sure since there is nobody there really qualified right now, not that Leites is either mind you.

Re: Thales Leites Released from UFC
I heard this, unbelievable, but I saw this coming. He goes from title shot to released. He even got screwed out of a victory against Alessio Sakara. The UFC made a mistake in releasing him, and I hope he gets another chance to shine.NCAAF: Miami Hurricanes

Re: Thales Leites Released from UFC
I actually never saw him fight one single time - but I'm not surprised after the whole Silva thing.
As for Bonnar... He's UFC for life - he and Griffin.Comment

Re: Thales Leites Released from UFC
Yeah. In some of Dana's video blogs, he's even been recorded pretty much telling Bonnar that he'll always have a place in the UFC considering the impact of that Griffin/Bonnar fight. Plus, the guy is 5-5 against some pretty solid competition in the UFC, so it's not like he's totally out of place. He's probably just a notch below a gatekeeper, which is fine. He's a good guy with some notable history and the fans like him, so as long as he can keep around .500, I've got few complaints with him being around. It's not having him in there is holding anyone else back.
And Leites being cut is no surprise. He was fortunate to even get a second chance after that Silva fight. It might not be fair, but MMA is an entertainment business, and fans' reactions to him now range from indifferent to hatred, and he can't be counted on to even fight should an opportunity present itself.Comment

Re: Thales Leites Released from UFC
Also Tamdan McCrory the 6'4 WW was cut
It sucks because he had charisma and was a entertaining fighter but he's young so i hope we see him again in the ufc.
McCrory, a 22-year-old who began his pro career with a 9-0 record in just 12 months, ultimately went 3-3 in the UFC. At UFC 101, after a tough weight cut, he suffered a split-decision loss to John Howard in a featured preliminary-card bout.Comment

Re: Thales Leites Released from UFC
I'm more upset about the McCrory cut then Leites. I actually thought Leites lost to Sakara and his biggest win was a disputed decision against Marquardt. I dont see the UFC losing much by losing him.Comment

Re: Thales Leites Released from UFC
I also thought Leites lost to Sakara and didn't think he deserved a title shot with his "got my *** kicked" win against Marquardt. I will not miss Leites at all.PSN: ScoopBrady

Re: Thales Leites Released from UFC
The UFC gave him a chance to shine by giving him Sakara and he fought like garbage. I don't blame them for giving up on him after that fight.Comment
