    Fedor to fight Brett Rogers

I don't think this is a great match-up. Fedor should be able to take him down and tap him, and if he does that, the reaction will probably be 'meh'. Probably even more indifferent of a reaction than when Fedor subbed Sylvia.

But if Fedor gets caught, and Rogers at least has a decent shot at landing something heavy, then Strikeforce and Fedor are effectively done.

It just seems like a lot of risk for not much reward.

But the fight itself is at least pretty intriguing. Like I said, Rogers has a realistic chance to land something heavy.

    Not too bad.

You really think Fedor is done if Rodgers lands a big shot and ends him?

I'm sure he'd continue to fight and get some big wins, but his relevance would essentially be done. He's already struggling for relevance outside of hardcore MMA fans. If he loses to a guy that many consider is of a slightly less caliber than some UFC heavyweights, it's done, it's over.

Strikeforce wont be done but Fedor would lose a ton of his negotiating power. The big deal about Fedor is that he is undefeated and everyone considers him the top heavyweight. A loss to Rogers (or anyone) kills that. Strikeforce isnt killed because it would still have a Rogers/Fedor rematch and Rogers name would continue to grow.

Exactly...it'd just turn Fedor into another Heavyweight, because the hardcore fans would even hop off his bandwagon. Fedor's just fighting someone who isn't ready for that level yet because it's all Strikeforce has. I sure hope Rogers is getting paid a ton to be the young tomato can. He's got talent, just needed some more fights before something of this level. We need to see what Rogers can do against tougher competition, but Fedor's just out of his league.

But if they do a Rogers/Fedor rematch, what happens if Fedor wins? It's hard to get a lot of casual fans pumped up for a rubber match between two guys they didn't really care about in the first place.

If Rogers wins a rematch, or no rematch happens, his name will certainly continue to grow. And it'll continue to grow once his Strikeforce contract is up and he accepts the big-money UFC deal they'd undoubtedly offer him.

Maybe Strikeforce wouldn't go under with a Fedor loss, although that's a very real possibility, but they'd probably have to go back to being a mid-level feeder league never again spoken of on any ESPN programming.

I kind of hope he loses out of spite.

I never liked the whole "he's gonna win..the other guy has no chance." It's MMA, not tennis.

The line 'anything can happen at anytime' applies to MMA more than any other sport. I don't like looking past fights.

That's all Strikeforce has to offer is fights like that. Fedor made his choice. It's a lot worse losing to one of these realtive no names in Strikeforce than going to the UFC and losing there but I guess the point was that he probably won't lose against one of these guys.

I don't see Brett taking this one but I'll be pulling for him to make history.

If Fedor beats Big Rodgers he will probably fight Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem. I see Fedor Gary Goodridging Bret Rodgers. It will be very interesting watching Fedor fight in a cage for the first time. His whole fight career has been in a ring.
