I've never fought in a octagon or the ring although most of you guys probably haven't ever.Just because someone watches it all the time doesn't make them an expert.

well honestly i boxed a bit for fun in high school and later in life a friend got me to go to a Judo class. i loved it and stuck with it, after joining the army i loved to box in exhibitions just for the hell of it, we were kinda bored in El Paso ya know. when i decided to try MMA i realized i didn't know much about the ground at all... because of judo i was able to defend takedowns and actually get in a throw or two myself. however, my 'MMA FIGHT' took place in a garage LOL. the ring had a little padding on the floor and just spectators supplied the edges. after i got the guy on the ground i had no idea what to do... i was put into a body triangle and finished... pathetic? maybe... but you have to understand this stuff is harder then it looks. Roy Nelson has quite a good ground game from what i saw, and kimbo can do the same things as i can... stand and bang... with much stronger punches i'm sure, but that doesn't get us boxers anything. MMA is possibly the most difficult and fun sport ever, and in order for you to be successful you need to be like roy, well rounded... not like kimbo who is one dimensional.

i love watching guys like Josh Koscheck and George St-Pierre or guys like Karo... it's a lot of fun to see guys who are SOOOO advanced they would make me look like a punching bag... have a little respect for these guys, going 10 minutes of pure battle is not easy... i made it eight and a half and i was winded like crazy... not to mention my ribs felt like they were crushed...

        Herb Dean tells his side:

        http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/...=9689&zoneid=2

        Most notably:

MMAWeekly: Firstly, Roy claimed that you didn’t stop the fight in the first round because of Kimbo’s status on the show. How do you respond to that?

Dean: Well, it’s not that complicated. I’m there to protect the fighter’s safety. Kimbo got up after that round pretty quick and spry, right? If I stop a fight it’s because I believe a fighter’s not fighting back, because he can’t. And there’s reasons why a fighter can’t fight back. One is a positional reason like Roy had on Kimbo. It was positional. Could (Kimbo) handle blows and continue to fight? He did. He made it to the end of the (first) round and continued to fight. If the blows were any less, I would have actually stood them up. The blows were strong enough to warrant being on the ground, but they weren't strong enough for me to stop the fight.
That's total bull****. Herb Dean warned Kimbo eight times in the final 20 seconds of that round.

        "Kimbo, you need to move."
        "You need to fight, Kimbo."
        "Kimbo, you need to fight!"
"I'm gonna stop this, Kimbo! You need to fight!"
        "You need to move."
        "You need to move."
        "Kimbo, move!"
        "Move!"

Sure, Herb, those strikes weren't enough for you to stop the fight. That's why you warned Kimbo eight times that you were going to stop the fight.

Add this to my list of reasons I dislike Herb Dean.

Point taken, i can really respect what your trying to say, you really need a ground to be successful in mma but i guess i'm one of those guys who likes to see knockouts.

You keep trying to defend roy nelson's honor everytime someone gives their opinion about his performance and secondly you posting that interview by nelson and deeming it a good interview which is your opinion but in my opinion he only made himsellf look like a bigger douchebag.

Roy Nelson is so full of **** it's hilarious. Have you ever read the guy's blog? His HW rankings pre-Arlovski fight were downright comcial.

                    1) What? There are a number of legitimate opinions someone can have about Roy's performance. It was safe, it was lackluster, it wasn't exciting. I'm pretty sure some of those opinions have been expressed, and I've got no issue with them.

The opinions I've had issue with are the stupid ones. For example, someone claiming Roy was laying and praying when he finished Kimbo twice on the ground in seven minutes.

Those opinions, yeah, I've been disagreeing with. And that has nothing to do with with my quote you posted. The crux of that quote was the 'willingly acting foolish' part.

So if you want to try and trip me up in order to call me a hypocrite, go for it, but you've gotta find an instance of me willingly acting foolish, not an instance of me defending Roy.

                    2) As for the Roy interview, yeah, I said it was a good interview. By good I meant it was interesting, it wasn't the standard PR-speak, it could elicit emotions from the reader. To me, that's a good interview.

I didn't mean that the interview would make everyone fall in love with Roy.

Of course, you could have asked me what I meant by it being a good interview, but you were too concerned with trying to nail me, trying to prove that I'm a hypocrite.

                    3) So now, please, just stop. There are more enjoyable things to talk about. If you still want to try and parse my words to prove I'm a hypocrite, knock yourself out. I don't think I'm worth it, though, man.

Not only are you a hypocrite for defending nelson's honor while bashing kimbo fans but you're a liar because earlier you stated you were done with me.Hyprocrite and liar what a deadly combination.

You're right you aren't, thats why i'm done with you and when i say i'm done i really am, your opinion isn't greater then anyone elses on this forum, you're truly a "keyboard warrior" because you think you know all about mma but you haven't fought yourself you just watch it from the comfort of your living room.Me i've never fought but i don't go around thinking i'm the czar of mma and throwing my opinions on everyone.Have fun arguing with youself oh great czar of mma, lol.

Listen closely to Roy talking. A lot of people are interpreting this as a sign that Kimbo is coming back at some point.

I read on Yahoo that Roy says Kimbo may try dropping down to 205 because that weight class isn't as "well rounded" as the heavyweights. LOL whatever. I agree that Kimbo would be better there but only because he's not 265 and can't handle the fat boys like Roy, or the actual athletes like Brock. That weight's just too much, no matter how much Kimbo learns about takedown defense and ground game.

Roy's just funny, but any legit heavyweight can handle his tactics...
