Re: Fedor v. Rogers: Nov. 7 on CBS!
Fedor is going to have to come to the UFC eventually. All he has left in Strikeforce is Werdum (and that is a fight that doesn't excite anyone) and Overeem, which may never happen because he's not fighting in Strikeforce.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Your using MMA math to downgrade his status. There is no math in MMA.
You said once that Fedor doesn't have knockout powerComment

Re: Fedor v. Rogers: Nov. 7 on CBS!
2) Yeah, I said Fedor doesn't have knockout power. I didn't mean that he is physically incapable of ever knocking someone out under any circumstances. If any 230 pound man in the world throws all his weight behind a punch and hits someone square on the button, they're gonna knock that guy out.
But Fedor doesn't have knockout power in the sense he can only really knock guys out when he catches them absolutely perfectly with a crazy power shot like that. He doesn't have nearly the power of someone like Liddell who can knock someone out moving backwards or someone like Anderson Silva who can knock someone out with quick straight punches or someone like Junior dos Santos who can knock someone out by clubbing them upside the head.
On a scale of 1-10, his power is probably around a 5. So yeah, I said he doesn't have knockout power, hoping that people reading would understand that I was speaking relatively so I didn't have to spend three freaking paragraphs explaining how I didn't actually think that Fedor was incapable of ever knocking anyone out.
3) And how am I a Fedor ***** when I explicitly said that I have him ranked as the third best pound-for-pound fighter in the world? Is that what passes as 'hating' in Fedor-land? Come on.Comment

OMG, just watched the Fedor fight and I actually jizzed in my pants. Now I see why so many here are Fedor nuts, it's better than sex. Who needs women when you have Fedor? Now I want to run around my condo complex, knock on everyone's door, and ask if they want to convert to the Church of Fedor!
Nice win by Fedor, Rogers put up more of a fight than I anticipated. Sad that there's basically no one worthwhile for him to fight now, but I guess we'll just see him mop up on tomato cans and UFC rejects from here on out. At this point Fedor's like Boise State, his conference blows and the strength of schedule is killing him. Sucks he refuses to fight in the UFC.
Very glad I wasn't watching live though, most of the fights on the card ended up being "eh", and glad I could skip what I read was a boring 5 round fight with Shields/Miller.Last edited by mgoblue; 11-08-2009, 04:17 AM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Fedor v. Rogers: Nov. 7 on CBS!
I look at the fight this way.. As soon as Fedor's nose was broken with the first punch, he had to go to plan B. Rogers reach was too much for Fedor so he had to adjust.. by wildly using haymakers just to keep Rogers at bay.
You look at the bloody nose and maybe the 4-5 punches that clearly landed flush on Fedor and you might have thought he was in trouble. But he wasn't and he even admitted it. I think the sight of blood immediately puts "Danger" in everyone's mind. Most of the time its because the fighter will go into panic mode. Fedor does not panic.Comment

Re: Fedor v. Rogers: Nov. 7 on CBS!
Yea, right. Let's see either of these guys give up 50 to 100 lbs and win fights. How many former or current champs have these guys beat compared to Fedor? What does this man have to do to get respect from some of you all?
Do any of you think Lesnar could have done that to Rogers? Besides Lesnar i don't see anyone in the UFC with a chance against Fedor and i'll take Rogers over Lesnar any day. Granted, i think this was really the only good fight for Fedor at SF, but to beat this guy at his own game under the circumstances he did it is incredible.Comment

Re: Fedor v. Rogers: Nov. 7 on CBS!
1) M1 admitted that Fedor wont sign unless M1 copromotes and the UFC doesnt do that. Strikeforce does so he signed with them.
2) Every report (not from Dana) stated that Fedor would have made more money from the UFC because of the base salary (more than Strikeforce could afford to pay) and PPV percentages he would have received. He wont get a PPV percentage in SF because its highly doubtful that he will ever fight on PPV in SF. Even if he does its doubtful that his PPV numbers will be any bigger than the pitiful ones he drew in Affliction.
I think the mistake you are making is assuming that everybody here is a UFC mark and think that only the best fighters are in the UFC. 7 of the top 10 heavys are in the UFC. The other 3 are Barnett (steroid issues), Rogers (who he beat) and Fedor. Thats it. The fact is no one wants to see Fedor/Werdum or Fedor/ Overeem. I agree that Fedor would beat most UFC heavys. That doesnt mean I dont want to see him try.Comment

Re: Fedor v. Rogers: Nov. 7 on CBS!
Just watched that fight again. That first round really wasn't close at all. The entire first round Fedor was looking for that huge right hand because Rogers was telegraphing all of his punches. Fedor threw that same overhand right three times in the first round when Rogers stepped in for that jab, and connected big the third time.
Fedor took Rogers down, delivered some clean shots while postured up in his guard. Luckily Rogers was able to slip out of the Kimura and get into Fedor's guard.
Not making any excuses for Fedor, but I don't think he took Rogers being in his guard very seriously. His legs were open and he even gave up some of his defense to wipe blood off of his face, which is when Rogers took the opportunity to land some shots. Fedor escaped and went on to control the rest of the round.
Rogers had that one flurry, but the rest of the round was about as one sided as it gets..::..::::::::.:.:.:.:....:::.:.::::..:.:::....:::: ...:..::."When you're an assassin, you don't have a conscience"-Gilbert ArenasComment
