    UFC 108: Evans v. T Silva

Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White told The Times his organization has struck verbal deals for Anderson Silva to defend his middleweight championship against Vitor Belfort on Jan. 2 in Las Vegas.

Wow. Belfort jumps over Henderson and Marquardt for a title shot. Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva and Henderson vs. Marquardt is also rumored for the card.

I think it's almost a no-brainer to put Silva/Vitor and Hendo/Marquardt as a co-main event for that card. It just makes way too much sense.

Rashad/Silva would be nice, but I'd rather they saved that until the Super Bowl weekend show. They could co-main event that with GSP/whoever. And there's a reasonable chance Rampage announces his return around December, so they could have him step in and fight Rashad in February. If they schedule Rashad for early January, it'd just be too soon for Rampage to step in if and when he comes back.

Shaping up to be a pretty damn awesome card if this turns out to be true.

For some reason, I dont see Rampage coming back until the film debuts in the summer. That fool thinks he is the next Rock.

That's not much of a wow. Not like Hendo and Marquardt lost in some controversial fashion when Silva beat them.

Silva might only have two middleweight fights left in him for good. Versus Belfort and then against the winner of Hendo/Marquardt, if it happens?

I don't think Rampage returns until this time next year.

I would kind of like Anderson to move to LHW fulltime. He destroys anyone at MW, and without him there, they could make a very competitive division. Without question, he moves up for good once he beats Vitor and the Hendo/Nate winner.

It is possible we see an Anderson/Machida fight at the end of 2010, assuming Machida is still champ by then.

I would love this card if those end up being the 3 main fights.

Anderson Silva is amazing, Thiago Silva is one of my favorite fighters and Henderson vs Marquardt would be an important fight for the middleweight division.

Machida and Silva are close friends and training partners and say they would never fight each other. They would rather just hold the two belts. Hopefully if a bunch of money is thrown at them they would reconsider. That is of course assuming Machida continues to prove to be the real deal (you are not a real champ until you defend it... and i think he will).

Rashad and Thiago have reportedly verbally agreed, so that fight appears set as the co-main.

And Hendo is fine with fighting Marquardt, he just wants a better contract. If they can get that fight together, though, I'm not sure it'll be on this card. It'd make sense, but at the same time, the UFC's got a ton of events going on between 10/24 and 1/2, so they might want to save Hendo/Marquardt and use it as the co-main for another card, maybe when GSP comes back, since a lot of their other top-level fighters might not be ready.

Apparently Silva isn't fully recovered from his surgery yet, so it looks like he won't be ready for 108.
