GSP pondering a hiatus from UFC

This would be a massive blow to the UFC. GSP has made enough money where he could afford to take 18-24 months off.

I got mixed feelings about this. I want to see GSP compete in the UFC but I would also love to see him on Team Canada at the Olympics if he can make it. If he qualified for the Olympics, this would make him a much bigger name in Canada and he would probably pick up a couple of mainstream sponsors from it.

I'd be ok with it. 1) He's only 28 so 2 yrs away from the sport wont kill his career. 2) The welterweight division is pretty much cleaned out after he beats Hardy.

What about .....Paul Daley? .... just kidding.

I would care....He's been hinting at 185 which is inevitable at some point as he ages imo. I'd like to see him fight in that division. Although I'd cheer for him (or any canadian) during the olympics, i really hope he just keeps beating people up in the UFC.

It could actually be a good thing, there isn't much left for GSP at 170 right now.

I would definitely miss seeing him fight. But, on the bright side the WW division would at least be competitive again. :o

It wouldnt be that bad. Create an interim title then when he returns have a unification bout. Then when he beats whom ever that may be, go up to 185.

I dont wanna see GSP/Silva because i think that will be GSP/Penn 2 with GSP on the wrong end.

A hiatus from UFC's least exciting Champion? Don't tease me like that.

In all seriousness unless GSP moves up in class I would rather him take a hiatus. He was way more exciting to watch before Serra TKO'd him and he's just so much stronger than the rest of his weight class that he can totally dominate the rest of the division and outpoint them. I know I'll get flamed for this but I'm already accustomed to the fact that I'm in the minority when it comes to GSP.

Agreed 10000000%. I don't even really like the dude anymore because he's become so boring to watch. Don't care if he goes at this point.

He fought twice in 2009. Alves and Penn.

I would hate to see GSP just drop the belt. Now I'm hoping that Hardy somehow miraculously beats him.

I think it'd suck; but just as an MMA fan. I don't care about the olympics one bit; so there's nothing for me to look forward to from this. I'd rather he keep taking on the top contenders in the Welterweight, or move up to Middleweight full time and try his luck up there. There's plenty of people to fight in the UFC, and I want to see him fight them.
