Rogan vs Mir

I think Rogan is a great commentator and knows his stuff. Plus he makes it entertaining. But I am actually amazed at Mir's knowledge of fighting technique. He is not well spoken, has spotty vocabulary, and seems like an oaf, but the dude really knows what he's talking about. I give him the edge over Rogan in terms of telling the viewer exactly what is going on and what is likely to happen minute to minute.

Rogan but Mir is the second best color commentator in MMA.

His accent makes him sound dumb, but when he's talking MMA he articulates very well. He breaks down the moves with a bit more detail than Rogan, though not as entertaining I'll admit.

No he doesn't. He rambles on and on about stuff that should take 5 seconds to explain. I don't need some arrogant douche over explaining everthing detail like I'm clueless. Not only do I already know everything he's going to say but I usually recognize what is happening long before he does.

Rogan is better but I will admit I was surprised when I first heard Mir. For some reason I thought he would suck.

Why would you be? Seeing how he's an actual fighter,an often top level one at that he should have knowledge of technique.

Yes and no...there are so many techniques across so many arts that I don't believe there are many fighters who have developed the full knowledge. Most fighters know a lot about a little.

I seen Mir commentate for WEC for a couple years now. So I guess I am use to his voice LOL.

Mir's good, Rogan is great.

Rogan does an awesome job of quickly and accurately describing what's going on; especially on the ground. Mir stumbled and rambles on a bit. I honestly believe Rogan is a huge part of why the UFC has done so well. He does a great job of explaining to the idiots who have no clue what's happening what is actually happening; and he does it in a way everyone can understand.

I definitely notice this when watching other organizations. The commentators never really explain all that well what's happening, and often focus on the wrong things.

Rogan is A++ to me. 1) Rogan has his stand up and acting to fall back on so he knows what to do with a mic. 2) The guy was a Taekowndo champ at a young age and has trained and rolled around with MMA fighters so he knows the game as good as anyone. He is actually in a perfect position as a commentator. Mir is a pro fighter with a decent commentary skills while acting and commentary is Rogans Job so of course Joe is better reguardless of if you like him or not. I am a huge fan or Rogan and his standup so maybe I am a little bias. I went to the live show of Talking Monkeys in Space and it was awesome! Great and underrated comic.

I like them both, they're both good. I have trained in several arts and on balance I like Mir's technical descriptions just a bit more and I think he says a bit more as well. But the great thing is, they're both a good listen, so it's all good.
