Re: The Ultimate Fighter 11: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz
Or, the UFC could've just let Tito coach anyway, with the understanding that he wouldn't fight Chuck right away. Just say: 'Tito is going to coach but is injured and will need surgery, so he won't be fighting Chuck at the end of the show, but will fight him once he is medically cleared.'
That would've allowed Ortiz to keep a TV presence and still get Liddell back on TV, all the while building up to an eventual fight between the 2. It's not like the UFC hasn't had to postpone fights with TUF coaches before.Comment

Re: The Ultimate Fighter 11: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz
I'm not a huge fan of either Tito or Liddell, but I think Tito was "damned if he did and damned if he didn't" in this situation. If Tito doesn't take the Liddell fight, then he is a (insert your derogative term here) that is scared to fight big, bad Chuck Liddell. If Tito does take the fight, but is unable to push through a major injury, then he is still a (insert your derogative term here) who backed out because he was scared. Look at the Rashad and Rampage saga; supposedly Rashad was a coward who was ducking Rampage because Rashad "didn't want to lose his new Light Heavyweight belt", but Rashad says that his wife had just had a baby and that Rashad needed a little time for himself and his family. So, even if there is a legit reason for not taking a fight, you are still going to be labeled a coward or a "ducker" for not fighting every single time/person you are asked to.
I don't see how Tito could have come out of this situation and not looked like a coward, and in the end, it doesn't matter. If Tito went in there and got paralyzed while fighting Liddell, do you think Chuck would respect him? NO! And even if Chuck did, I'd rather be walking and hated than paralyzed and respected. Tito's health is more important than trying to prove a point against someone who will never respect him anyway. I don't get how people are ragging on Tito, I mean the injury is legit and serious, and he was in a no-win situation, cut the guy some slack.Comment

Re: The Ultimate Fighter 11: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz
He wouldn't have looked like a ***** if he said up front that he was not healthy and then had back surgery. Tito took advantage of the situation by agreeing to get paid to do the show as well as the publicity he would get for being involved in the show knowing full well that he wasn't going to fight Chuck at the end.
Dana is no fool, he realized that Tito played him and fired him as he should have. Chuck had been telling him since day 1 that Tito was going to back out but Dana insisted that everything was fine and the fight was going to happen so I'm sure Tito kept reassuring him too. Tito was not damned if he did and damned if he didn't. He was just damned if he did and he did.PSN: ScoopBrady

Re: The Ultimate Fighter 11: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz
Ha ha ha, good bye Yeager. He probably lost any shot he had by quitting.
Yeager won the first just because he landed all the leg kicks and was controlling the ring and the round. He could have lost it, because he got rocked, but Josh just didn't go forward enough and punch.
Yeager is someone I don't like, but I do like his fighting style. It's easy for us to knock him for quitting too, but when you get rocked like that it can totally mess up your mind.
I wonder if he'll continue fighting?Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

I always root for the good guy, the man more than the fighter but it's hard to root against someone with great athletic kicks like that.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

On another Yaeger note, those jumping downward puinches he threw twice in that last fight are so stupid. Take away your base then try to punch someone... great idea.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: The Ultimate Fighter 11: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz
He needs to know when to throw creative, low-percentage counters (like a jumping HK) against an approaching opponent and when to just circle off and live to avoid the TD and set up effective strikes.
If he threw more high percentage combos like 1-2 leg kicks and focused on footwork he would probably be less popular though (at least in the ring) so I suppose its a catch-22.. creative striking + success = stardom (looking at you bones).Comment

What a great fight just now.SpoilerI really love Tavares. The kid has huge heart, and a great attitude. Court is just one tough dude. I am sure we will see Tavares again. Easily the best fight of the season so far.
I'm happy for McCray too. The last four fighters were all such humble people. I hope that each of them get their shot.
I think Court will beat McCray in the Finale. Should be a good fight though.Last edited by LingeringRegime; 06-09-2010, 11:03 PM.Comment
