Does UFC undisputed do a better job with flash knockdowns then FN4
I played my first game a few days ago. I was Anderson Silva facing off against Dan Henderson.. My first two punches knocked him down. I was thinking, oh, boy, this is lame.. But after that, I couldn't put Henderson down & I was hitting him with clean punches & kicks.. He got me on the ground.. I made a mistake of not covering up, & Henderson KO'ed me with one punch.. Pretty dramatic.. as Silvas body seemed to go limp & his eyes closed.. Even though I lost, I was very impressed with how they do Flash knock downs & one hit Ko's.. Why can't FN do this..Redskins Fan. Re: Does UFC undisputed do a better job with flash knockdowns then FN4
exactly...I think the knockdowns were still frequent enough (memory) ...but they toned down the flash ko's to make it about 1 in every 100 fights. I found it to be maybe even less than that. So in the new game, they've kept it rare which i disagree with, but their point was to allow the better player to win 99% of the time.
I remember when I first got the game my 5th or 6th match online I KO'd someone in the first round with Cro-cop. It was a perfectly timed left hook and knocked him out cold, no previous knockdowns or even that much damage. It was super cool imo...but after the patch, I never won that way again as far as I can remember at least online.
I get their point, but who really cares if you lose say 1 in 20 fights because you occaisionally get ktfo???? you get to knock others tfo too! I hope they tweaked it slightly to make it at least a bit more frequent than post-patch.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Pre-patch = Done perfect
Post-Patch = Horrible. Basically more along the lines of a boxing match

I really pray they found a happy medium between pre patch and post patch - the patch kind of ruined the game for me, there were hardly any flash knockouts after the patch which made certain fighters (ie Chris Leben) totally useless IMO. Fingers are crossed because they need to be more frequentComment

Post-patch it ruined the game to a degree. Guys with bad cardio, who had to push the fight early and look for the knockout or TKO are screwed now. Because you can stand and bang on someone with their hands at their side and it does nothing but add damage. It will take literally ROUNDS of doing this to get low enough to hurt them for a KO.
Guys such as Brandon Vera who have a Cardio rating in the 40s. Going against someone like Rampage Jackson are out of luck. As long as the guy even halfass blocks some shots it is going to the 2nd or 3rd FOR SURE if it stays standing.
There should be extreme fear for dropping your hands and seeing that high head kick land on your character. Pre-patch you did, because any shot could KO. It is what made the demo so amazing.
Being able to come out with Shogun Rua, run up. Grab Rampage with a Muay Thai clinch and delivering killer knee strikes should be devastating. Just as it was to him in real life. Post-patch HORRIBLE. Rua loses because of his cardio rating.Comment

**** man, we need to make these developers aware of this issue. This is what defines MMA. And like its been said, made the initial game and demo so awesome."I'm addicted to Video Games, and i chase it with a little OS." -Winston ChurchillComment

Re: Does UFC undisputed do a better job with flash knockdowns then FN4
simple solution would be put some sliders in place so the user has control over his preference for KO frequency - obviously a bunch of people bitched and moaned because they changed it with the patch - but let those of us control it - who enjoyed that aspect.
btw - are there any other forums that the devs patrol, does anybody know? Because I'd really like to make sure they see this.Comment

Re: Does UFC undisputed do a better job with flash knockdowns then FN4
From the videos at the premiere, I don't think this is going to be a problem. The real random flash KO's probably wont change much from post patch 2009, but the way damage accumulates over a short period of time has changed dramatically. It's not just about beating on a guy until his head or body accumulates to 100% damage and then they're done. It's possible to get greyscreened in the first ten seconds if you land enough clean damage in a short, rolling, window of time. It's much more true to life this way, and blocking and moving out of the way is going to be very important; and in this way, more higher percentage strikes like legkicks will become more important than they were before.Comment

I definitely enjoyed the flash knockouts pre-patch. It made you a lot more cautious defensively cause you knew if you ran in with no guard up and got caught you were out. So you had to plan your attacks better. And still 80% of the time the best fighter would win but you'd get a crazy KO from someone being too reckless or cocky with it.Comment

Just look at GSP's latest loss. He was careless for half-a-second and BOOM, he's no longer champ even though he was the superior fighter.Comment

Pre-patch I am sure. Cause if that happened post patch, well it will be another 10 years of you playing before that happens again.Comment
