I'd rather he fought Marquardt. I know Chael beat him, but I don't care. Who would have been mad other than Sonnen and a few supporters? Part of the problem is the match making leading up to title shots. At the moment the UFC is just skipping over so many matches that are better for fans to see.

And if Silva is going to continue to be that way..what can I say? At least make exciting fights, and stop with the one-dimensional challengers who are either bjj experts or wrestling all-americans. I don't really care to see it, or at least care to see it anywhere close to the same level as a more complete guy like Nate.

I'm saying, who cares if they step over someone who's "in line for the title" ? Like Thales Leites...where is he now? If they skipped him, and he got mad...who cares? Same with Sonnen. Would anyone really care? The guy either loses in a submission or wins crappy decisions.

I'm asking you personally, would you have kicked up a fuss if Nate was given the shot and they ignored Sonnen?
Sonnen got sub'd by Maia, then won 3 decisions in a row, before Nate's loss to Sonnen, he had 3 ko's in a row.

Strikeforce does this kind of crap and it totally devalues the title and the sport. 1) Marquardt was already dominated by Silva once. 2) He lost a #1 contender's match against Sonnen. How the hell are you going to give the guy who lost a #1 contender's fight a title shot? Thats ****ing insane.

I would have been furious if Sonnen won a #1 contenders fight and then got passed over by the person he beat. So would the entire MMA media. It would be a joke and Dana would have been killed in the media for it.

Again, you are making statements without perspective. Silva has fought 1 wrestling all american and that was Henderson. Hendo deserved that title shot. Leites won 5 in a row (including one over Marquardt) before he got his shot. Maia only got a shot because Belfort was hurt, Marquardt just lost and Sonnen wasnt available to fight because of a medical suspension.

Instead of making general statements like "the UFC is skipping over fights people want to see".....name the fights that they are skipping. Its not Dana's fault, Marquardt was ****ing dominated by Sonnen.

Using your theory, winning doesnt matter. Only winning with "style" does. I'm all for giving people who finish fights an advantage but its silly to discount fighters who win just because they dont win with style.

Exactly. If Belfort was healthy, he would have the shot, but he wasnt. If there was 2 #1 contenders, and the other finished fights, he probably would have recieved title shot over sonnen.
That is why Gray didnt get title shot and Frankie did, becase Gray doesnt finish fights.

I'm going to get back about this. I need to write quite a bit to get my point across....some of what i said is out of frustration, but I want to touch on the match-making leading up to title shots, and fully explain my pre-conceived notions of what these fights are about. It will then be more clear even though many won't agree.

My posts I wrote lazily, but I swear I have a good point to make lol. I guess skipping over sonnen is a bit dumb...but I'm going to argue that he shouldn't have got the title shot or #1 spot to begin with when I get some time probably tomorrow lol..

I fully understand what you're saying though. AND I know I didn't highlight my match-making point at all.

I'll just say for now that they need to adjust their match-making for the future and be clear with fighters what's expected of them and leave it at that for the time being.

Yeah, I wouldn't be interested in a Marquardt fight. He already fought Silva once and was beat, let other guys get a crack at him. The guy I actually want to see most against Silva at MW is Rousimar Palhares. He's still a few wins away, but his leg locks give him a nice weapon that most fighters don't have. Silva's last loss was to a heel hook also.

Well.... Technically it was to dq by okami, but i do agree with you that Palhares is a threat. Dont think he could do a flying heel hook like he lost to though .
Palhares 1 loss is to Dan Hendo, which isnt a bad loss.

I find it hilarious. He has to oversell because Silva cant/isnt doing **** to sell it. I was laughing last night when I saw the ad for the PPV. 80% of it is Sonnen talking, 10% is Goldberg's voice saying Silva should take Maia out and 10% is Silva fighting.

Based on Silva's last fight, they need someone to oversell this.

Exactly. Sonnen is at least trying to give people a reason to buy this PPV. Silva has become such a joke. I think he enjoys not being a fan favorite b/c then he doesn't have to mess with things like interviews unless it is right before a fight. And even then, he gives ridiculous answers to tick off the media. Training with Steven Segal?

Come on, man. You are a champion and representing the biggest MMA company. Act like a professional.

I hate his voice and the way he talks for some reason... annoys the crap out of me. I want to see KILL MODE Silva but it would be a cool upset too because Chael is a gigantic douche and would make a nice "heel" type champion that everyone just wants to destroy. Win-win IMO... if Silva wins there's also that possibility of going up or down in weight classes to get more belts, which is REALLY a win.
