Silence is never a good sign

After the first few days full of complaining and bashing the game, it is now becoming very quite in nearly all forums about UFC2010. I personally think that this is a very bad sign for THQ. Many people have sold their games, some have stopped playing to wait for a patch. The game has recieved critic all around the community which seems now on the verge of "moving on" instead of playing the game. THQ in my opinion needs to react quickly on that, otherwise, sales for the next game will drop significantly also partly because EA is joining the market as a company that has the trust of the masses. THQ really lost out on an once in a lifetime opportuinity and now needs to reduce the damage on the franchise by really pushing forward a patch. The patch is the only chance to save the franchise. Otherwise it will end like NHL 2k or other prime examples of lost trust in a franchise that plays in the hands of EA. I for my part sadly feel that the game lacks the replay-value Fight Night, UFC 2009 or even Street Fighter has.

      good posting.
I think the whole industry is messed up they release games like fast food(if that makes sense haha).

Because of this I've bought two games the last 2 years or so (ufc 09 and mw2)

i personally would do away with the yearly release and maybe wait 2 years but in this fast world we live in i don't think many would agree and would become way to impatient.

Does anyone know how long it takes to make say a mw2 or other games that don't come out yearly and end up being better because of it?

The whole freaking industry is frustrating,if you don't fully understand mma then why are you making this game or why were you hired in the first place to work on it.Many people have said that if they had 1 day with the developers they would come up with a lot of better ideas for it and i totally believe that.

Well until this game is patched to my satisfaction i wont be picking it up.

@thelasthurtknee i think that statement is true EA is the most globally popular video game company around if im a kid or anyone is doesn't even matter i recognize with that name and say hey i know EA they've been around forever i trust that name/company.

The majority of players aren't as picky as or little community over here(which in a way is a big problem)

well i have to say that the game is starting to make more sense for me. actually its alot smarter than us at this point because im starting to see some pretty good balanced stuff in training camp. there is some issues with playing the cpu and i dont like reversals from the top. there are some smart things with the transitions fakes and leveling transitions that make things way different.

but about ea. first off ea is not that repected. they are a distributor that is buying up all the indies rights much like the music business did when it sucked. here is a list of the developers that ea owns.

        and a aquistion list

so many companys that just died when they went to ea.

ea's sports companys have been the worst. jumping the gun on next gen and getting the games out to early. look at how bad Madden, NCAA, Hockey, BBALL, and soccer were on next gen. now FIFA and Hockey have done much better once they got away from the EA family friendly crap that everyone can play and they put some challenge back in the game. I remember UFC 09 sucking *** until the patch. online and off. so im sure this will get much better. also what EA game has been that great beside FIFA without a patch? and FIFA needed a huge on last year there were so many probs. So eas game will come out and suck. mark my words. then the patch for will come and it will be better. but you can look at any forum on OP sports about any ea game and it will be filled with bugs and issues. Hell NCAA and MADDEN are what 15 and 17 years old respectively and the games still suck. and here we are waiting, maybe this year they will catch up with last gen in features and fun. pathetic really. the only that you can count on with ea it is that they will rush the game.

Well he obviously hasn't been in the Madden, NCAA or Live forums in awhile if he believes that. Personally, I liked all of those games last year. Fight Night 4 on the other hand...

Re: Silence is never a good sign

I think that the silence speaks volumes to just how spoiled gamers are today.

Don't get me wrong, the game needs to be patched. And criticism can (hopefully) lead to a better product, and I can appreciate the passion. But when I hear about people selling their games after 2 days, it's rather frustrating. It's partly THQ's fault for hyping the game so much, so people being disappointed was inevitable (and hype has ruined many good games, so it's not just THQ).

I think many people have made gaming a way of life, so if there is something in a game that they don't like, they bitch and moan until people start to believe that the game is horrible, when in reality, it's usually not as bad as it people make it out to be.

IS UFC 2010 perfect? Far from it. But is it broken? No. I want it to be a better game too, but I also think that it's still pretty amazing that we can show our love for the sport by being able to play it in video game form.

I just wish that people would put things into perspective sometimes.

EA has mass appeal, more than any other game developer, apart from maybe Nintendo. But EA is a household name and is recognized around the world for good games. They may not be the best with regard to standards set in forums like this one, but you can't deny that the casual gamer can play it save by buying an EA game and know that it won't suck totally. They are in the business for too long to not have some brand image that can sell video games. This is not personal opinion but in fact, looking at the sales volume they have. Like it or not

He's right.."we" are not the "masses"

Madden forums across the Interwebs doesnt count..

If he was wrong, Madden would have been out of business 5 years ago...

Re: Silence is never a good sign

again EA is a distributor. each game has a developer. this is why some games like fifa work great from the start online while bad company, godfather 2 sucked terrible online. same distributor different designer. EA owns almost every gaming company out there. of course their distributorship will generate sales. NCAA is terrible. sales show that. run commit alone ruined it. i like most football gamers wait till this year for all the promised changes to these games. and EA needs to make these changes faster than we want them.

EA Tiburon makes madden. one of ea's biggest franchises.

                    2007 9.08 million sold
                    2008 7.70 million sold
                    2009 7.52 million sold
                    2010 6.18 million sold

yea i get it, there are other factors but the game has sucked on this gen. ncaa has been worse. i don't blame tiburon for either but ea for rushing both games out right after next gen launch. its been catch up for tiburon ever sense.

                    good post ggazoo

I personally think UFC 2010 is about 5x's better than Undisputed 2009. Strikes look better, Kicks look better. I have not one issue with this game. Some people need to stop with these expectations, I mean really, its a VIDEO GAME. If you want the real thing that you watch on TV then go step into a caged octagon. No video GAME is perfect.

THQ is silent right now because they're on vacation, in case some of you missed Tank's post in his thread introducing himself.

I can guarantee this game will get patched. This isn't NHL 2K we're talking about where the funds just aren't there. It's just a matter of when that patch (or patches) will come out. Hopefully it doesn't take long because last year's game was good, it just needed some improvements. They made those improvements this year, but they broke a lot of things on the way in.

I don't want to see another post in this thread about EA. EA has absolutely nothing to do with this game.

This thread will not turn into another EA bashfest. There are plenty of those threads already.
